Stop by and see us during one of our Open Houses, held the first Sunday of every month from 1PM to 4PM at our Historical Center. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to meet our newest docent, Mike Calo, who will lead a guided tour of the museum and bring Odenton’s history to life through the eyes of a WB&A conductor from the town’s past.

Admission and tours are always free! We hope to see you next month!

Did you know that where the Walgreens is located on Piney Orchard Parkway there used to be a bustling hotel with a restaurant and an events ballroom? Check out our most recent interpretive sign located along the sidewalk in front of Walgreens and learn more about this historical area of Odenton.
Special thanks to Sunny Patel of Rieve’s Deli (another Odenton historical landmark) for allowing the sign to be placed on their property and for also helping us to install it!

Keeping our historical center and church safe for visitors, our friends from Bob Lester, Jr. Tree Service is getting it done trimming these large trees back. Just a glimpse of what your membership and donations do to help keep our all volunteer organization alive. Thank you!

At our Annual Board and Membership meeting, we were honored to receive a very generous donation. Warren Leister, representing his family’s Ompompanoosuc Foundation, Inc., presented a $5,000 gift to the Odenton Heritage Society.

Warren is a longtime member who has served as Vice President on our board and continues to support the organization through his research and role as a historian.

We sincerely thank Warren and the Ompompanoosuc Foundation for their generous support of the OHS and our mission.

Big Changes, Same Dedication to Odenton’s History

After 9 incredible years of service, Wylie Donaldson, Jr. has stepped down as President of the Odenton Heritage Society. We are deeply grateful for his unwavering dedication, his leadership in preserving and improving our historical buildings—including the OHS Historical Center and museum—and his tireless work in promoting the town he’s called home his entire life.

We’re excited to announce that Greg Mazzella, long-time First VP and a vital part of our organization, will be stepping into the role of President. Greg has already shown great passion and commitment to OHS, and we’re confident he’ll continue the important work Wylie has championed.

The great news? Wylie isn’t going far—he’ll continue to support the Society in another leadership role as a member of our board. We’re thrilled he’ll remain part of the team!

A sincere thank you to Maryland State Delegate Andrew Pruski and Anne Arundel County Council Member Julie Hummer for joining us in celebrating Wylie’s presidency. And thank you, Greg, for your heartfelt speech—we look forward to your leadership!

Lastly, we want to recognize our devoted board and amazing members. Your support is the backbone of the Odenton Heritage Society, and we couldn’t do this without you.

Here’s to honoring the past and building the future—together.
