As we wrapped up the 2025/26 school year I wanted to provide a run down of what we provided to the students this year.

This past school year we had 9 schools participate in our Backpack Buddies Program. Three schools had food pantries in the schools that the students were able to shop, free of charge, for food items. Two out of the three schools have a freezer and fridge so that the students can take home perishable items. We provided 3,811 backpacks to students, fed 2,747 students from the food pantries giving a grand total of 6,558 students served for the year. This number does not include family boxes that are either picked up or dropped off at homes where families need more than a weekly backpack. We average 55 families a month that receive a monthly food box.

We have only received about 1,300 bags returned from the students. For whatever reason they chose not to return the bags we do not withhold food from any student. This just means that we may need to spend more money on purchasing bags.

This is why donations are so important. It doesn't matter if it is food donations or bag donations, both go a long way. We greatly appreciate everyone that helps keep this program running whether it is through your time, donations or your prayers. The students can feel the love and care from each person that supports this program.

In the summer months we keep pushing forward in providing families with food boxes that are needed. This program does not take the summer months off.
