Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout

09/26/2026

Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Update:

The Red Drum Shootout is still scheduled to take place October 2–3 as planned.

We know there are questions about next weekend’s Red Drum Shootout because of the current closure of NC 12 at Pea Island and the suspension of the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry.

Along with you, we are monitoring NCDOT and the Ferry Division communications and giving them time to assess the situation. We know many of you have put a lot of planning into being here and already have reservations, so our plan is to move forward with the tournament as scheduled. And the forecast is looking great for fishing!

The Red Drum Shootout is ON, and we’re planning to fish!

⭐️This year the Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout plans to expand its impact to include the Ocracoke Community Lunch Program (which may know as “meals on wheels”). This program completely relies on volunteers and donations.⭐️

🐟As the tournament continues to grow, so does its impact.🐟

This year, we’re excited to welcome even more anglers, expand our volunteer efforts, and strengthen the community spirit that has made the Red Drum Shootout such a special event. We hope you’ll join us once again as a sponsor and help us make this year our biggest and most successful tournament yet! 🎉🎉

Thank you to our 2026 Sponsors who have already partnered with us for the 3rd annual tournament this year! If you’re looking to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to Helen at [email protected] or head to our website (linked in bio!).

In addition to the Ocracoke Community Lunch Program, tournament proceeds will continue to support the Working Watermen’s Association and this year we also plan on including The British Cemetery.
