Cub Scout Pack 49 - Summit

We had a fun hands on pack meeting on Monday learning all about weather. We started off with a cold front demonstration, then went on to 5 stations: learning how to look up the weather in your area and what to look for, how to dress for different forecast scenarios, made clouds in mason jars, learned how clouds make rain in mason jars, and made wind vanes.

Stop by the Metro Market at Pabst Farms and say hello to our awesome Scouts! They are busy fundraising for their scouting program by selling Popcorn, while learning vital life skills like work ethic and personal communication.

We had a wet weekend camping at Camp Long Lake for Swamp Fox!

Thankfully, the rain mostly held off on Saturday after we had to set up our tents in the pouring rain on Friday. It definitely wasn’t the easiest start to a camping weekend, but that’s part of what Cub Scouts is about, learning to adapt, stick with it, and build resiliency!

Sometimes the adventure doesn’t go exactly as planned, but those can end up being the experiences Scouts remember the most. We’re proud of everyone who embraced the challenge and made the most of a very soggy weekend.

We had our first Pack meeting tonight! The theme was Bobcat, which is the first required adventure for all Cub Scouts. We did Scout relay to show the Scout sign, salute, and handshake. Get to know you BINGO where Scouts asked each other questions on their BINGO card. Scout Law quest where Scouts each got 12 Scout Law cards, but not a complete set and had to swap with each other to complete their set. And finally Scout Oath Puzzle, where each Den as a group had to piece together the Scout Oath.

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, the communities that bring us together, and the people who have helped shape our nation.

Whether you’re watching fireworks, enjoying a backyard cookout, marching in a parade, or spending time with family and friends, we hope you have a safe and memorable Independence Day.

As Scouts, we’re reminded that being a good citizen isn’t just something we do on holidays, it’s something we practice every day through kindness, service, respect, and helping others.

Have a fantastic Fourth of July, and don’t forget to look up when the fireworks begin! 🎆

Come join us at Fowler Lake tomorrow evening for some fishing fun! Scouts will have the opportunity to complete all required activities to earn the fishing belt loop or pin for their new rank.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As Scouts, we reflect on the values of courage, service, and sacrifice, and we are grateful for those who protected the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we take time to remember our fallen heroes.
