It was probably at about this hour that the Roman centurions who were guarding His tomb fell fast asleep. The Bible says that an angel appeared and rolled the stone away; not that he needed an angel to rescue him, but rather I would imagine that he couldn't wait to see Him again!

In the 28th chapter and 2nd verse of Matthew's account, it states that the ground shook so hard when the angel descended from heaven in his glorious and fearsome form that the guards just fell to the ground as if they were dead.

[2] "And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
[3] His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
[4] And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men."

I don't really care if they fell asleep or fainted from fear. It's just good to know that no power here on earth or elsewhere could stop my Savior!

These fine young people showed up at my front door one day a few months ago offering to cut my grass. To the relief of my neighbors, I struck a fair deal with them and they earned my trust by doing a good job. These young people have a good work ethic. They show up like clockwork without being told and they are very respectful! They exhibit qualities of the fine young people of yesteryear. They are quick, yet careful not to damage property.

Today, my wife added the task of cleaning the outside of the house. They readily agreed and eagerly went straight to work. I can safely say that for those of you who are looking for some help around the house in the S.E. 49th Street Road - Woods & Lakes area, these young people are the ones you want to contact.

As this hurricane approaches, I'm wondering how many of my neighbors are leaving and how many are sheltering in place. How many have first respoder training? How many might be available for calls or night patrols? It might be prudent to accelerate our "get acquainted" process. After all, we might be a few days without police, fire and EMS protection...

When we first came to Woods and Lakes, our entire street would become pitch black at night because the beautiful woods blocked out all of the light from neighboring homes and street lights. Knowing how the criminal element loves the darkness, I immediately installed motion activated flood lights with LED bulbs on three sides of the house. However, this wasn't quite enough. So I contacted our Clay Electric cooperative and they graciously installed a dusk-to-dawn street lamp for less than $7 per month. My neighbor at the other end of the street was so impressed that he soon had one installed as well. Now our street is very well lit.
