Every family should be able to find mental health support close to home—from someone who speaks their language and understands their community.

Across San Diego County, 38 nonprofits are making that possible. They're delivering bilingual, trauma-informed counseling and therapy to children, youth and family members, including approximately 1,500 Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander youth who now have access to culturally responsive care.

"When young people can talk openly about mental health and find support that understands who they are, entire families grow stronger." — Wendy Urushima-Conn, President and CEO, Union of Pan Asian Communities-UPAC

Organizations like the Chicano Federation of San Diego County, Episcopal Community Services, Karen Organization of San Diego and many more are delivering this care every day.

This work is supported by $2 million in grants from San Diego Foundation's Family Well-Being and Lotus Fund initiatives. More Oceanside families will have access to healthy food, nutrition education and services that support long-term food security.
Oceanside Community Foundation, a regional affiliate of San Diego Foundation, awarded more than $98,000 to six local nonprofits that provide fresh produce, school-based food distributions, cooking classes, nutrition education, food services and supportive meals for Oceanside residents and families.
Congratulations to this year’s grantees: Brighter Bites, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego, Feeding San Diego, Berry Good Food, Lived Experiences, and WRC Oceanside.
