Residents reported individuals knocking on apartment doors along Greenbrier Street in Oceanside this evening.

According to community members, the individuals identified themselves as fugitive recovery agents, commonly known as bounty hunters.

Community patrol volunteers responded to the area. Around 9:09 PM, a volunteer reported that the area appeared clear.

Community members reported suspicious vehicles near Laurel Elementary School this afternoon while students were being dismissed.

When community members approached, one individual reportedly identified himself as a marshal and showed a badge. Another vehicle was reportedly connected to Oceanside Police, although that has not been confirmed.

There are no confirmed reports of ICE activity connected to this incident.

Our concerns do not stop with ICE. We oppose policing and surveillance in our communities, especially around schools.

Community defense takes collective support.

As immigration enforcement activity increases in Oceanside, HRCO volunteers continue organizing community patrols to observe, document, and share information with our communities.

This is a grassroots effort sustained by volunteers, and we’re asking our community to help us raise $6,000 for patrol equipment, transportation, food, and community resources.

Some equipment, including the specific walkie talkies needed for patrols, comes at a significant cost. Financial contributions help us purchase the appropriate supplies, and we also welcome direct donations of needed items.

ICE is planning an expansion of its intelligence gathering operations through a proposed program called ERO ONE.

Federal contracting documents describe plans to hire intelligence specialists to analyze information, relationships, and networks across the country, including in San Diego.

The program is still in the planning process. Its proposed scope raises serious questions about surveillance, privacy, and the potential impact on our communities.
