The Human Rights Council of Oceanside (HRCO) started in response to the many checkpoints in North County San Diego and SB 1070, Arizona's anti-immigrant law. is a 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 organization, composed of students, professionals, and community members whose main purpose is to serve the North County community. LOTERIA NIGHT🌛🫘🍉🌹☀️

📍 O’side Bakery - 3815 Mission Ave

Join us for a fun night of playing loteria and raising funds for impacted families in our community.

Entry to play for the evening will be a sliding scale of $5-$8.
We will be selling coffee, hot chocolate and fresh pastries.☕️🥐

All funds will go directly towards impacted families. 🫂

OCEANSIDE FAMILY NEEDS SUPPORT!

An Oceanside family of 7 needs our support!❤️‍🩹

In February, the father was taken by ICE at his worksite. He is now out of detention.
Last month, the community helped the family pay for rent. This week, one of their sons is undergoing heart surgery.
The family has reached out for help with money for gas and to eat while they wait in the hospital.

The mutual aid comité is collecting donations for this months food/hygiene drive. We are asking folks (if you are able), to donate money via Venmo so we can buy bulk items that will go to impacted families we have been supporting!🫂
We are also accepting gift cards to give to children/adolescents for clothing.

Oceanside has a long history of protest, political organizing, military resistance, and community dissent that is often left out of how the city is remembered today.

During the Vietnam War era, students, organizers, Black liberation groups, anti war activists, and active duty service members organized marches, rallies, political education events, and demonstrations connected to Camp Pendleton and the broader violence of war, racism, policing, and state repression.

Many of the same patterns still exist today.

Organizers and activists across the United States continue to face surveillance, intimidation, criminalization, political targeting, and attempts to silence movements connected to racial justice, immigration, policing, liberation struggles, and opposition to war.

Remembering this history also means recognizing that resistance, dissent, and community organizing have existed in Oceanside before, even when people attempted to erase, suppress, or discredit it.

Join the North County Self Defense Coalition for our monthly meeting this Friday May 22nd. We will host a Defend Your Rights Training along with our Community Patrol Training. Bring a friend, this month's meeting will be in Oceanside, see you there!

Support a member of our community and seniors by helping us cover the cost of eight nail sets for graduating students.

We will be collecting funds until June 8th to cover the cost of nail sets for 8 students.

Huge thank you to for teaming up with us to bring some joy and celebration to impacted students and their families this grad season.

Any funds that exceed the fundraising goal will be donated directly to impacted families.

Estamos recaudando fondos para apoyar a un miembro de la comunidad y estudiantes preparándose para sus graduaciones. Los fondos serán utilizados para cubrir el costo de uñas acrílicas o gel-x para 8 estudiantes. Estaremos recaudando fondos para este esfuerzo hasta el 8 de Junio.
