Spellers Freedom Foundation - Helping nonspeakers access communication and build community.

For decades, when a nonspeaking child couldn’t point to the correct flashcard or say the right word, the world drew a conclusion: they don’t understand.

But what if the issue was never intelligence? What if the barrier was motor control?

This short video explains apraxia, the brain-body disconnect, and why spelling and typing - through Spellers Method, S2C, RPM, and keyboard access - are changing what we understand about nonspeaking autism and communication itself.

These individuals didn’t gain intelligence through spelling. They gained a reliable motor pathway to express the language and cognition that were there all along.

One champion. One betrayal.

NY Assemblyman Santabarbara passed the Communication Bill of Rights (A7363C) unanimously in 2025. He’s a father of a son with autism - and he gets it. He showed up for nonspeakers.

Senator Fahy accepted money from trade interests and then gutted the bill - inserting the words “validated” and “autonomous” into the language. Two words that sound neutral, two words that effectively exclude every nonspeaker who uses typing or spelling to communicate.

Have our children’s futures been bought and sold?

Nonspeakers deserve better. They deserve equal rights. We must demand better.

Join me live tomorrow — Tuesday, April 21 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET — for a conversation that matters.

We’re talking about agency.

What does it really mean for nonspeaking individuals to have full ownership of their lives? To make their own choices, express their own preferences, and live on their own terms?

And what happens when that agency is misunderstood… limited… or taken away?

I’ll be going live with to explore this deeply and answer your questions

Set your reminder. Bring your questions. Be part of it.

Imagine having thoughts, feelings, opinions - and no way to express them.

Now imagine someone finally handing you a way to communicate… and then then outside agencies try to take it away.

That’s the reality for thousands of nonspeaking individuals with autism and apraxia right now. On this World Autism Day, we’re asking you to learn, share, and stand with us. Every person deserves the right to communicate how THEY choose.

Comment “SPELLERS” below 👇 and share this post to spread awareness.

This fight needs ALL of us. Your share makes a difference. 💙
