Justice Works is Making Big moves for Oceanside! 🌊

We recently sat down with Oceanside Deputy Mayor Eric Joyce to advocate for real SB 1383 reform. Our goal? Work collaboratively with the City to cut red tape and secure financial relief so local food pantries can sustainably rescue food and fight food insecurity without being crushed by administrative burdens. 🤝🥑

But the OSC Justice Works Team isn’t stopping there. We are pushing hard across the board in 2026:

⚖️ Police & Fire Commission: Advocating for a diverse oversight commission that reflects our community and ensures independent civilian oversight

🏠 Affordable Housing: Fighting for local policies that protect renters and strengthen housing stability for our most vulnerable neighbors.

OSC’s Justice Works team is working collaboratively with the City of Oceanside to strengthen the local implementation of SB1383 in ways that reduce food insecurity, support food recovery efforts, and sustain the long-term viability of community pantries. We were thankful to have the opportunity to share our research with Deputy Mayor Joyce as we work towards an end to food insecurity in our community. More on this soon!

We continue to lift up the Islamic Center of San Diego in our hearts in the aftermath of yesterday’s horrible attack. For those who are able, there will be an interfaith vigil tonight at 6:30 pm at Lindbergh neighborhood park. There will likely be many people and it’s located in a residential neighborhood so give yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk to the vigil.
