Plant guilt is just as silent as Mom guilt. No one is actually telling you that you’re doing a bad job but you have these quiet observers judging you. I will get the last of our seedlings in the ground within the next 48 hours - I promise! To reduce my plant guilt and because they are silently begging!

4 beds planted! Lots of 🍅🍆🫑 with a few 🥒 & zucchini. Next up, weeding, trellising and planting the 5th bed. Also making garden gates. Getting 3 beds planted at my kids school garden. Teaching for 8 weeks about gardening. Oh and continue working on the acreage farm. I need a clone 🙃

1 volunteer came out for 2 hours on this overcast, drizzly morning. We spread enough woodchips to make one or two parking spots 💪 Yes this would be easier and quicker with a machine but where’s the fun in that?! Because we didn’t use fossil fuels, we got a good workout in, were able to talk, and had a beautiful morning listening to the bird singing and the light rainfall. Building community one shovel full of woodchips at a time.

University of Delaware alumna Kristin Ward Hock always knew that she wanted to be a farmer but there was just one problem – she knew nothing about farming and didn’t know anyone to ask.

May 17, 2026 - A day in Fostering Farmer’s history! Our first plants planted 💪🌱 95° temps 🥵 3 adults, 5 kids, 24 posts pounded, 12 eggplant, 18 peppers, 32 tomatoes, and a whole lotta herbs. While we are still figuring things out at the one acre leased farmland, we are renting 5 plots in the community garden to get us going. Looking forward to our first harvest 🍅🍆🫑

Tonight I spoke at the Middletown Lions Club meeting. I was invited by Ms Bev, my childhood Sunday school teacher. Her most impactful teaching was to “plant a mustard seed, even though it’s the tiniest seed, it has the greatest impact.”

I don’t know how I’m going to get Fostering Farmers to reach our full mission. But I have faith we will get there. Because I continue to plant tiny mustard seeds whenever and wherever I can. And eventually, one tiny mustard seed will get to the right person and will positively impact the rest of our journey 🌱

Yesterday we hosted our first corporate volunteers from and it was so much fun! I wasn’t sure if these office folks would know how to use a shovel but they all brought their A Game and were determined to help us remove the left over roots. This will make working this plot of land so much easier and smoother. Grateful for these 8 hard working folks putting in 16 hours of hard work 💪
