On October 8th VFW Post 7234 Post Officers/ Auxiliary Officers/ Honor Guard and Auxiliary members were invited to a Family Cook out sponsored by the Scout Troop 281 from Ocean View. The Scouts were doing their first flag burning ceremony in the fire pit constructed by Jonathan Kohr (Scout) and other adults to assist in his Eagle Scout's Project.

Our VFW Post 7234 Honor Guard was asked to join in to do the 13 folds of the American Flag as several of the Scouts read aloud the meaning, and participated in the fold too.

Before flag burning ceremony: VFW Post Honor Guard Captain Mike Schiffer and others did a volley with Taps being played by a IRHS Student Noah.

Chase (Scout leader) organized the other Scouts to start the Flag burning ceremony. As each flag was put into the pit a reading was done. It was then asked for everyone to speak what the American Flag means to them. Very touching, and when finished our Post Commander asked after a ceremony, we sing God Bless America all sang to end the evening.

Yesterday evening At Brandywine Senior Residents some Hospital Helpers from the VFW Post 7234 Auxiliary visited for a Salty/Sweet and Cozy Bingo night. Gift bags with salty/sweet treats were prizes to the winners. Special game winners received handmade crochet lap blankets to stay cozy. It was a fun night, the 15 residents that came to play left smiling and saying NEXT MONTH!!! We all enjoyed the night and surely we will try to be their next month!!

A BIG shout out to Chris the "bingo ball caller" last night a helpful resident!!!
