Embrace Abilities

Embrace Abilities Empower. Advocate. Connect. https://linktr.ee/embraceabilitiesms We’re here to celebrate differences and ensure every family feels a true sense of belonging.

Established in February 2024, we’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building an inclusive community for individuals (3–21) with different abilities and their families on the MS Gulf Coast. Embrace Abilities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, founded by Bridgett Lee in 2024. Inspired by lived experience, our mission is to create a welcoming, inclusive community where children, teen

s, and young adults with different abilities—and their families—can thrive. We proudly serve families navigating a wide range of disabilities, including genetic disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, neurodiversity (like autism and ADHD), and rare conditions. Our vision is a future where every child is valued, respected, and empowered—no matter their diagnosis or background.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞 𝐃𝐨:
• Host monthly inclusive events, sensory-friendly activities, and social meetups
• Offer programs like Play & Connect meetups, Coffee with Caregivers, and Sibshops, with a focus on whole family support
• Provide caregiver resources, peer support, and advocacy for families navigating all types of disabilities—ensuring everyone feels seen, supported, and included.
• Partner with local clinics and professionals to expand access to therapy, education, and community connections

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐖𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞:
• Children and young adults (ages 3–21) with a wide variety of abilities—including but not limited to autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Fragile X, cerebral palsy, rare genetic conditions, and more—plus their families, caregivers, and allies across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡:
• All participants, regardless of age, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at events for safety and support
• We strive to accommodate allergies, accessibility, and communication needs—just let us know during registration
• For those aging out of our youth programs, we offer guidance and referrals to community resources like the DREAM program

At Embrace Abilities, we believe diversity, acceptance, and empathy make our community stronger. Join us as we work together to build a more inclusive world for everyone!

Our friend Emma Kate is HOME. 💜🧜🏻‍♀️

After 17 very long days away from home, major neurosurgery, some incredibly scary complications and a whole lot of recovery, our favorite mermaid has officially made it back to the Coast.

We know so many of you have been following along with the updates from her mom and sending love, positive thoughts and good vibes her way. There is still plenty of healing and rehabilitation ahead, but tonight we are just so happy to say:

Welcome home, EK. We’ve missed you. 💜

Head on over to 7 Brew in Ocean Springs today and grab your free drink (limited menu). They’re doing free drinks daily leading up to their official opening on September 14, and they’re already accepting donations for Embrace Abilities.

If you’ve donated already, thank you. That support helps us keep our programs free and helps local families raising kids with different abilities have more places where they can show up and feel included.

Sorry y’all. We’re getting this posted later than we meant to.

Next month, we’re taking it back to our roots with a simple meetup at the splash pad for ages 3-21.

📅 Saturday, September 12, 2026

⏰ 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

📍 George Martin City Park 914 De La Pointe Dr. Gautier, MS 39553

Our team has been busy behind the scenes on the home front, and some have also been making weekend trips to Jackson to visit our friend Emma Kate, so we kept this month simple. Come let the kids splash, cool off, and spend an easy morning with other Embrace Abilities families. We will have pizza for lunch.

If you’re planning to come, please register so we can plan our pizza count, and we’ll see y’all at the splash pad.

Y’all showed up. Because of the support of our community, we raised $1,496 through our Papa Johns fundraiser for Embrace Abilities.

Thank you to everyone who ordered, shared, and helped spread the word. And a huge thank you to Papa Johns Pizza of South Mississippi and every Mississippi Gulf Coast location for featuring this fundraiser and giving back to our families.

These funds help us keep our programs free for local families and cover the real costs behind inclusive hangouts and caregiver support. Thank you for making something as simple as pizza night turn into real support for our community.

Yesterday’s Embrace the Journey support group meetup was a good reminder of why this space matters. There was no guided discussion and no theme to stay on. We simply showed up, shared what real life looks like right now, and let the conversation move naturally while we supported each other through it.

To everyone who attended, thank you for trusting us with your stories. We heard pieces of grief, stress, and the day to day weight that comes with caregiving. We will never share details, but we will always hold space for what you are carrying. Reminder for our group, please do not measure your pain against someone else’s. Your grief is yours, and every feeling you bring into this space is valid.

We also want to mention a few of our regular families who were not able to be with us because they are currently in the hospital with their kiddos. Please remember them in your thoughts, along with one of our parents who is walking through the loss of a parent.

Thank you to The Arc for providing the location, and thank you to Raising Babies Gulf Coast for providing childcare so parents could take a breath and be fully present.

Next month’s meeting will be held virtually. This life can be tough, but you are never alone. If you have been thinking about joining, you do not have to know what to say. You can come as you are, listen, and sit with people who get it.

We are super excited for this partnership! ☕️💙

We are super excited for this partnership! ☕️💙

They’ve been popping up throughout the Gulf Coast, and now the fun — and caffeine — has made its way to Jackson County!

The newest 7Brew location, at 2875 Bienville Boulevard, is now one of five on the Coast — joining Waveland, Gulfport, Biloxi, and D’Iberville.

Events are planned in the coming weeks leading up to the grand opening on September 14.
