✈Check out this incredible flight path!

🏝Black Skimmer, 33N, an adult female, was banded and tagged June 19, 2026, on Ship Island. She spent most of the summer between Ship Island and the Biloxi Marsh.

📍Recently, thanks to her high-tech tag, our team captured a consistent stream of GPS locations as she made her epic journey right across the Gulf!

🗺Unlike traditional tracking which only gives an estimated “Point A to Point B’ guess, 33N’s tag gave her exact flight path. She launched from Venice, LA and touched down safely in Campeche, Mexico.

🌎Because the data is so precise, our research team now knows the actual time it took her to complete the flight, alongside the exact duration between different legs of her journey. This incredible data will help us calculate real flight speeds and better understand migratory patterns!

Accessible Birding Outing at Jones Park!

Join us for a relaxed, inclusive birdwatching outing at Jones Park in Gulfport, MS. This event is open to birders of all experience levels. What to expect:

👟Paved trails & a comfortable, leisurely pace with plenty of breaks.
🛻Accessible parking
🔭Loaner gear & adaptive equipment provided (binoculars, monocular, winged eye shields, tripods, canopy, and chairs).

Please be prepared for outdoor conditions (sun, wind, and heat). Bring water. Come enjoy nature and connect with the community! Hope to see you there!
