I am happy to announce that Dr. Tyler Hawk has been appointed as the Assistant Director of Bands/Percussion Instructor, Assistant Professor of Music at UNK. Dr. Hawk recently completed his DMA in Percussion Performance from LSU, and previously completed a Masters in Music Education from the University of Mississippi, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music and Psychology from Tulane.
At UNK he will be teaching applied percussion, co-directing the Pride of the Plains Marching Band (drumline), and directing the Symphonic Band.

We’re very excited to welcome Mr. Caleb Cochran to our band staff for the 2026-2027 school year!

Mr. Cochran is a recent graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he specialized in percussion. We are excited for him to share his knowledge, musicianship, and enthusiasm with our students and percussion program.

I’m proud to announce that I will be taking the move to Eastern Kentucky and joining the team at WYMT in Hazard, Kentucky as their morning meteorologist! I’m so excited for this huge new step in my life and this really is a such incredible opportunity. Can’t wait to call the mountains my home away from home!

We had an awesome day at Satsuma Day of Drums!

Our team had the privilege of working with students from 8th–12th grade at Satsuma High School. Together, we explored posture, grip, stroke types, height systems, playing zones, and so much more — all with the goal of building skills that help students create music at a higher level.

A huge thank you to Innovative Percussion for their support — the students loved receiving something special from you!

Shoutout to directors Brad Threadgill, Lori Galemore, and Victor Smith, and our amazing staff — John Dunlap, Garrett Villers, Cody Krause, Irvin Myles, Timothy Ladner, and Josh Harried — for making this clinic such a success.

Special thanks to the band parents for providing lunch!

We can’t wait to see how these students continue to grow!
