We stand with our brothers and sisters in Tacoma. Properly funding Public safety should be at the top of every elected official’s agenda.

Last night marked the first reading of the budget, and unfortunately, amendments to keep the Rover program were denied. However, this is not the end—we still have next week before the final vote.

It’s disappointing that five council members, along with the Mayor, have chosen to turn their backs on public safety, specifically Tacoma Fire. This decision paves the way for station “brown outs,” which will have serious consequences for both residents and visitors to our city. Brown outs mean station closures which lead to slower response times, increased risks, and greater stress on our firefighters, who will be forced to do more with less.

🚨‼️Here are the elected officials who voted AGAINST Fire and keeping our community safe:

- Joe Bushnell (District 5) – South Tacoma & East Tacoma
- Kiara Daniels (At-Large Position 6)
- Kristina Walker (At-Large Position 8 )
- Jamika Scott (District 3) – Hilltop & Central Tacoma
- Sandesh Sadalge (District 4) – East Tacoma & South Tacoma

In addition, Mayor Woodards has voiced opposition to restoring funding for Fire (she was absent for this meeting).

This fight isn’t over and we will not go quietly.
Stay informed and stay engaged.
Let’s hold our leaders accountable and demand better for our citizens and firefighters.
