More trees please!
This spring, the CIC has been making improvements to our entire museum campus, including restoring sections of our natural area and trails. Where did we start and where are we headed?
1. In the winter, we laid down gravel on the walking trail and installed hand rails where necessary.
2. In the early spring, we began removing scotch broom from several areas (there's always more to go!) because it was outcompeting other plants.
3. Then we spread mulch โ thank you E&H landscape service LLC for the donation!
4. After that, a delivery of trees from the Quinault Department of Natural Resources combined with the helping hand of local students has been keeping us busy!
This program is part of our cradle-to-career education program. As we reconnect students to our shared outdoors, they'll be proud to live in Grays Harbor.
Ultimately, we plan to make our trails into an interactive storywalk, combining the natural and cultural history of our area โ that final part of the project is still forthcoming!
