On Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 Best Selling Author Margie Cowles Hamner spoke at our Kiwanis meeting and shared with us the vision that changed everything for her. She told us how an unexpected vision sparked a powerful journey toward writing a children's book. In this inspiring talk, Margie Hamner shared how a Zoom call and a meaningful dream led to writing a best-selling book, "Magic Ball of Light: Summer Camp", transforming a lifelong dream into reality and showing how imagination, courage, and inner light can guide your own path. Margie is a fellow Kiwanian from Woodbridge, Virginia and her love of her grandchildren, and children in general, helped her develop her creativity. On Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, Jen Fela spoke to our Kiwanis Club about plastic pollution. Jen Fela is the Managing Director of Plastic Pollution Coalition, a U.S.-based non-profit communications and advocacy organization working with global partners to stop plastic pollution at the source. She has engaged with a variety of audiences about the plastic pollution crisis and solutions, including companies, investors, and the general public. She spoke about the plastic pollution crisis and what you can do to protect yourself and your loved one's health from the toxic impacts of plastic and the chemicals in plastic.
