🏡 SBI Rotary + Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina

South Brunswick Islands Rotary is proud to support Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina and the important work they do for children and families in our community.

One of those projects is helping support the renovation of the Rotary Cottage at Boys & Girls Homes.

We’re asking our community to help us make these renovations possible. Every donation, large or small, helps create a welcoming and supportive place for the young people who call the Rotary Cottage home.

This is what Service Above Self looks like—coming together to make a difference, one project and one child at a time.

🍷🎨 Rotary Social at Calabash Art & Curios! 🎨🍷

South Brunswick Islands Rotary members had a great evening getting together, enjoying some good conversation, and supporting one of our local businesses—Calabash Art & Curios!

A big thank you to Suzy & Forrest for welcoming us and creating such a fun place to gather. Their shop features beautiful coastal art from local artists, handmade crafts, and an impressive selection of wines from domestic and international vineyards. 🖼️🍷

It was a great opportunity for our members to relax, connect, and spend time with some of the local businesses that make our community special.

We love supporting our community—and sometimes that means enjoying a little fun along the way! 💙💛

🌎✈️ Where in the World Is My Fellow Rotarian? 🌎✈️

One of the fun activities at our weekly South Brunswick Islands Rotary meetings is our interactive game: Where in the World Is My Fellow Rotarian?

Who doesn't love a little friendly competition? The best part is that while we're having fun trying to figure out the location, we also get to learn something about a Rotary club in that part of the world. 🌍💙💛

This week's “missing” member was Sadie Smeltzer! Can you guess where in the world he was? 👀🌎

Rotary is local, but it's also part of something much bigger!

📚💙 What do Rotary and Dolly Parton have in common? A shared love of literacy and helping children succeed! 💙📚

Since 2009, Rotary clubs around the world have partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to help bring free books into the hands of young children. 📖✨

Rotary’s connection to Dolly and her commitment to childhood literacy goes even deeper. In 2010, Dolly Parton was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of her work to promote literacy and make a difference in the lives of children. 🌟

Here at South Brunswick Islands Rotary, we understand the power of a book. From our Little Libraries and book distributions to scholarships and other youth-focused projects, investing in children is one of the many ways we serve our community.

Because whether it’s through Rotary or Dolly, helping a child discover the joy of reading can create an impact that lasts a lifetime. ❤️📚

🏖️🪣 Another Beach Toy Box is ready for fun! ☀️🌊

Today, South Brunswick Islands Rotary installed our newest Beach Toy Box on Holden Beach!

This project started with Sunset Beach in 2024, followed by Ocean Isle Beach in 2025, and now Holden Beach joins the fun in 2026. We love seeing this project grow along our Brunswick County coastline!

A huge shoutout to SBI Rotary member Ed Hartnett, who has built these amazing boxes. 👏🔨 Thank you, Ed, for helping bring this idea to life!

Have extra beach toys? You're always welcome to donate them to one of the boxes for another family to enjoy. 🏖️🪣

It's just one more way SBI Rotary shares our love of children and gives families a little extra fun during their time at the beach. 💙💛

📢 The South Brunswick Islands Rotary Foundation Grant Period is Now Open! 💙💛

Local organizations, schools, charities, and community agencies in Brunswick County are invited to apply for grants of up to $1,500!

These grants are designed to support projects and partnership opportunities that help our local youth succeed in academics, career readiness, and life. But we hope to do more than simply provide funding—SBI Rotary members are also ready to roll up their sleeves and volunteer alongside your organization when possible. 💪🤝

The first application period is open now:

📅 August 20 – September 30, 2026

A second application period will be open:

📅 January 1 – February 15, 2027

📚🎉 It was the first day of school in Brunswick County, and SBI Rotary was ready to help welcome students and teachers at Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary!

Whether we were at the carpool line or greeting students as they stepped off the buses, there were smiles, fist bumps, cowbells, and pom-poms everywhere! 🔔📣🙌

It was a great morning and a perfect example of service in action—Rotary members showing up to support the children, teachers, and schools in our community. 💙💛

🌊 Join us for an interesting look at one of North Carolina’s most unique landmarks! 🌊

The South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club is excited to welcome Richard Neal, Executive Director of FPTower Inc., as our guest speaker.

Richard will share the story of Frying Pan Tower and how a vision to preserve this historic offshore structure has grown into a mission focused on maritime safety, marine science and research, ocean discovery, education, and serving North Carolina’s coastal communities.

His presentation, “From the Tower to the Coast: Bringing Our Mission Closer to Shore!”, is sure to be a fascinating one!
