PushUps4Parkinsons, organized by the Cutler Foundation, originally began as founder Evan Cutler’s personal push-up challenge of 100 every day for life, to honor his father Keith during his courageous 14-year journey with Parkinson’s, and mother Arleen, dedicated caregiver. With some quick math from the help of his son, Jonah, they realized that if Evan continued this push-up movement every day unt

il the age of Keith’s passing, 74, he would reach 1,000,000 push-ups.
”If I can do one million push-ups, and I will, then we should be able to get the rest of the world to do 100 million! And while we’re at it, let’s raise 100 million dollars”, said Cutler “10 at a time”. The project gained attention within the Parkinson’s and caregiver communities, and quickly expanded into a global movement around the world. Now known as the my101010 Challenge, participants are encouraged to record and share a video or photo of themselves doing 10 push-ups, give $10 at www.my1010.org, (Venmo my101010) and challenge / tag 10 friends do the same. Virtual Challenge Day events are being planned for October 10th around the globe, with the goal of uniting people around the world to simultaneously do 10 push-ups at 10:10. "We are challenging the world to have some fun and improve their health, all while providing funding to educate, enrich and improve the lives of caregivers and those with Parkinson’s” says Cutler.

We’re continuing to build toward our October 10 Pushups4Parkinsons event, and we’re currently looking for more sponsors and vendors to be part of the day.

This event keeps growing through the support of local businesses, organizations, and community members who want to be involved in something meaningful. Every sponsor and vendor helps create a stronger event while also supporting individuals and families impacted by Parkinson’s throughout our community.

As planning continues through the summer, we’d love to welcome more businesses into the group helping bring this event together.

Connection is really what makes the support feel real. When people take the time to be around each other and just be present, it creates a kind of understanding that’s hard to explain. It helps people feel a little less alone and a lot more supported in what they’re going through.

Those moments stick with you, and they’re what keep a community going.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this month’s Parkinson’s Community Support Group.

It’s always meaningful to see people come together, share conversation, and spend time with others who understand. A special thank you to Christy Gillenwater with Brunswick Wellness for being part of this month’s meeting, and to Tripp Parks of Through Fire Wellness for his continued involvement and support.

These gatherings continue to grow through the people who show up and take part, and we’re grateful for each of you.

We’ll be gathering again on June 24 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, and we’re looking forward to hearing from Ashley Davis with Liberty Health and Hospice as our guest speaker.
