At tonight's meeting held at Wesley United Methodist Church, we had a special election to elect a new Department Executive Committeeman to finish out the term in May.
County Commander Bill Archer was elected.
We then held a special election to elect a County Commander to finish the term in May and Jr Vice Commander Dan Colasante was elected, leaving the Jr Vice position vacant until May.
Also, to note that Doug Ruth, Sgt-at-Arms for Post 239 was appointed to County Sgt-at-Arms to fill that vacancy.

BIG NEWS FOR THE AMERICAN LEGION FAMILY

At the 2026 American Legion National Convention, delegates approved new membership eligibility language for the American Legion Auxiliary — opening the door for more members of our veterans’ families to become part of the ALA.
The updated language expands eligibility to include grandparents, parents, siblings, spouses, and direct or adopted descendants within two degrees of eligible American Legion members and qualifying servicemembers.
Another important change: some individuals may now be eligible to belong to BOTH the Sons of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.
These changes are effective immediately.
To me, this is about strengthening our American Legion Family. More eligible family members means more hands serving veterans, more people serving our communities, and another generation carrying forward the values and mission of The American Legion.
If you’ve ever wondered whether you or someone in your family might qualify for the American Legion Auxiliary, now is a great time to take another look.

Our family just got a little bigger.
For God, Country, and Service
