Marion Substance Exposed Newborn Task Force

Marion Substance Exposed Newborn Task Force Work group of the Marion County Children's Alliance (). Thank you for being part of a community that cares.

The Substance Exposed Newborn Task Force was created in response to the growing number of babies in Marion County that are being born substance exposed. The SEN Task Force was created to ensure that pregnant women who suffer from Substance Use Disorder in Marion County receive the prenatal care needed to protect the health and safety of their unborn babies. This is a very vulnerable population who

receives little to none prenatal care due to the stigma associated with using drugs during pregnancy. It is with this task force that we hope to reduce that stigma, through education and hopefully a little grace, and encourage any woman who suffers from Substance Use Disorder and finds herself pregnant, to seek out the care that she will need, not only for her baby, but for herself as well. As a community, it is our responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us, our children. We can do that by providing to their parents the tools and skills needed to care for them in the best way possible, starting with quality prenatal care.
