Over 750 Marion County citizens give their time and energy to the volunteer and outreach programs of the Sheriff’s Office. These volunteer citizens annually log an average of 128,000 hours of service and 500,000 miles patrolling the county’s neighborhoods, businesses, rivers and lakes. The volunteer units are also used to help locate lost or missing citizens. In the event of a natural or man-made

The volunteered hours represent a tax saving of nearly $3,000,000 annually to the tax payers of Marion County. However, there is an annual cost of approximately $280,000 to the Sheriff’s Office for the volunteer and outreach programs. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise the funds necessary to help operate the volunteer and outreach programs and remove this cost from the Sheriff’s Office budget. Your support and generosity for the MCSO Foundation are greatly appreciated.

Our Story

Over 900 Marion County citizens give their time and energy to the volunteer and outreach programs at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. These volunteer’s annually log an average of 91,000 hours of community service and 500,000 miles patrolling neighborhoods, businesses, rivers and lakes. The hours these volunteers put in each year represent a tax savings of nearly 2 million dollars annually. The Foundation was created in 2008 to support the Sheriff’s budget for volunteer programs. The Foundation board consists of community volunteers. The purpose of the MCSO Foundation is to raise the funds necessary to help operate the volunteer programs. We also help offset this cost from the Sheriff’s Office budget. By working together we can help to secure our future.
