Join us on Thursday, September 17, from 2-6 p.m. at J.McLaughlin at the World Equestrian Center for Gather in Style, a special shopping event benefiting Arts in Health Ocala Metro.

Enjoy an afternoon of fashion, style inspiration, and beauty tips from a professional Dior Beauty makeup artist while exploring J.McLaughlin's newest fall collection. Best of all, 10% of event sales will be donated to AIHOM, helping us continue bringing the healing power of the arts to veterans, healthcare settings, schools, and community programs throughout Marion County.

Thank you to Mayor Christine Kohan Dobkowski and the City of Belleview for honoring Arts in Health Ocala Metro with a proclamation recognizing our work in the community.

We believe everyone deserves opportunities for creativity, connection, and self-expression. Through arts-based programs that support mental health, recovery, and overall well-being, we have the privilege of serving more than 19,000 residents across Marion County.

We are grateful for this recognition and for the community leaders who understand that the arts are more than entertainment. They are a powerful resource for healing, growth, and belonging.

🐞🎨 Painting for Wellness at SMA Healthcare 🎨🐞

Women in recovery at SMA Healthcare recently explored watercolor painting with AIHOM Artist Practitioner Shannon Kelly, creating colorful beetle-inspired artworks filled with personality and imagination.

Creative activities like painting can play an important role in supporting mental wellness throughout the recovery journey. Focusing on color, shape, and creative expression can help reduce stress, encourage mindfulness, and provide a healthy coping mechanism for navigating difficult emotions and life challenges.

Like the beetles depicted in these paintings, recovery often requires resilience. Beetles are known for their strength and adaptability, reminding us that growth can happen one small step at a time. Through art, participants had the opportunity to slow down, express themselves, and discover moments of joy and accomplishment in the creative process.

These peaceful landscapes were created by men in recovery at SMA Healthcare during a recent session with AIHOM Artist Practitioner Shannon Kelly.

Through painting, participants practiced creativity, mindfulness, and self-expression while creating scenes of winding paths, strong trees, and wide-open skies. Art making can help reduce stress, encourage reflection, and provide a healthy way to process experiences throughout the recovery journey.

There's something fitting about a landscape: a path stretching ahead, a tree standing strong through seasons of change, and a horizon that reminds us there is always more to discover. Recovery is a journey, and these paintings beautifully reflect the hope and growth found along the way.
