Way to go Leia! πͺπΌ ππ»ββοΈ π
β ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT STORY: LEIA DAVILA
Every now and then, a young athlete comes along whose journey stops you in your tracks, makes you smile, and genuinely inspires you. Today, that athlete is Leia Davila.
Leia is a force in the pool β competing in Swimming, II3 classification β but itβs her heart, her grit, and her steady forward motion that tell the real story.
This season, Leia made history as the first-ever Florida State Champion in the 50 Free and 100 Free under the new disability category. That alone is worth celebrating. But her momentum didnβt stop there.
Leia was also named to the Scholastic All-American Team, one of only 16 athletes with disabilities in the entire United States to earn that honor. Sixteen. In the whole country. And sheβs one of them.
And sheβs not slowing down.
Leia is heading to Southern Zones next week, and her eyes are already set on representing Athletes Without Limits in Peru. She has dropped significant time this season, pushing past every barrier with determination and joy.
What inspires me most is this: Leia shows up as an athlete with an IDD and muscular weaknesses β yet she keeps moving forward. She keeps showing up. She keeps believing in whatβs possible. She keeps rising.
Thatβs the kind of story that reminds us why we do what we do.
Thatβs the kind of athlete who reflects resilience, courage, and heart.
βThatβs the kind of journey worth celebrating~
