Jackson caught himself a nice bass… but the rest of the boys? Well, they may have caught a dinosaur. 🐟🐢

We had a great evening fishing with the boys, and my nephew Liam, our resident turtle man, gave the boys a little backwoods education on fish, lures, and whatever else might be lurking beneath the surface.

Then came the big catch of the night: a massive snapping turtle!

Sometimes the best ministry moments happens with a fishing pole in your hand and a bunch of boys gathered around saying, “What IS that thing?!”

Super wholesome to see two boys excited about nature. Wesley found a leaf covered in little bumps, and Harrison found a tiny frog. Just a couple boys enjoying the outdoors and finding all kinds of neat things along the way.

First trail ride for Jaxson and Wesley! 🐴

Dylan and Wyatt also got to hit the trail, and it was a great day for all four of these young aspiring cowboys. We’re proud of them for stepping up, learning, and enjoying the ride.

These kinds of days mean a lot, time outdoors, time with the horses, and chances to grow in confidence and responsibility.

Proud of these boys and thankful for moments like this.

Big day for Lylah and Gracie May, they had their first trail ride! What a sweet summer memory for these two!

Summer days in our horse program are about a lot more than just riding.

Our kids have been learning that caring for horses takes patience, responsibility, and a willingness to work hard, even when that work means cleaning water troughs, helping around the barn, or learning what goes into keeping a horse healthy from the ground up.

A big thank you to Paul, our farrier, for taking the time to teach our youth about hoof care and the important work that goes into it. Wesley was especially interested, and it was great to see that curiosity come alive!

These are the kinds of lessons that stick with a child: responsibility, confidence, stewardship, and the value of doing a job well.

What’s a hands-on skill you learned growing up that still sticks with you today?

Thank you to April Knoblett from the 4-H Extension Office for spending time with our kids at the Home and leading them through this fun art project!

They had a great time painting, creating, and showing off their finished pieces. We’re thankful for people like April who take the time to pour into our kids and make their day a little brighter.

Have a blessed Memorial Day.
