Save the Date for Saturday, April 24th, 2027 at the Hotel at Oberlin to see Sue Brady inducted into the inaugural class of the Oberlin High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

Few individuals have had a greater impact on Oberlin High School athletics than Sue Brady. As a teacher, coach, administrator, and mentor, she dedicated her career to serving the students of Oberlin while helping transform opportunities for young women in athletics. Her leadership and vision make her one of the most influential figures in the history of Oberlin High School athletics.

Beginning her teaching career in Oberlin in 1958, Sue was instrumental in establishing and developing the school's girls' athletic programs during a transformative era in high school sports. Long before opportunities for female athletes were commonplace, she believed every student deserved the chance to compete, grow, and succeed. Her commitment helped lay the foundation for generations of girls and young women to experience the benefits of interscholastic athletics.

Save the Date for Saturday, April 24th, 2027 at the Hotel at Oberlin to see Erik Burnett inducted into the inaugural class of the Oberlin High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

Few athletes in Ohio high school history have achieved the level of excellence attained by Erik Burnett as he established himself as one of the greatest wrestlers ever to compete on an Ohio high school mat.
From 1984 through 1987, Burnett captured four consecutive Ohio High School Athletic Association individual state wrestling championships. He finished his remarkable high school career with an astounding 128-2 record, becoming Oberlin High School's only four-time state champion.

Burnett's extraordinary contributions to wrestling have earned him recognition at every level of the sport. He has been inducted into the Clarion University Sports Hall of Fame and honored by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame with its prestigious Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award. While his accomplishments have deservedly brought him statewide and national recognition, Erik Burnett's legacy began in Oberlin.

Save the Date for Saturday, April 24th, 2027 at the Hotel at Oberlin to see the 1932 and 1936 Boys Track & Field State Championship Teams inducted into the inaugural class of the Oberlin High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 1932 Oberlin High School Boys Track & Field Team established Oberlin as a local track and field power. Competing with remarkable speed and all-around talent, the squad captured the Ohio Class B State Championship – the first boys track and field state title in school history and one of only two state championships the program has ever won.

The 1936 Oberlin High School Boys Track & Field Team reaffirmed what the school's athletes had proven just four years earlier – that Oberlin was home to one of the finest track and field programs in the state of Ohio.

The team captured the Ohio Class B State Championship, earning Oberlin its second boys track and field state title in a span of just five seasons. Their victory established a dynasty of excellence that remains unmatched in school history.

Save the Date for Saturday, April 24th, 2027 at the Hotel at Oberlin to see the 1926 Boys Basketball State Championship Team inducted into the inaugural class of the Oberlin High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 1926 Oberlin High School Boys Basketball Team forever changed the course of athletics in our community, capturing the school's first state basketball championship.

Led by standout players Gerald Gaines and Jimmy Barnes, the 1926 squad set a standard for Oberlin basketball that remains to this day. Their championship remained unmatched for six decades until the celebrated 1986 state championship team added a second title, forever linking two of the greatest teams in school history.

Although a century has passed and many of the details of their remarkable season have faded with time, the significance of their achievement has not. The 1926 team proved that athletes from Oberlin could compete with – and defeat – the very best in Ohio, creating a championship tradition that continues to fill our community with pride.

Save the Date for Saturday, April 24th, 2027 at the Hotel at Oberlin to see the 1899 & 1900 State Championship Football Teams inducted into the inaugural class of the Oberlin High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

We’re excited to uncover a long-lost story in our history, as the 1899 and 1900 Oberlin High School football teams are both recognized by the Ohio High School Athletic Association as State Champions – placing Oberlin among the pioneers of Ohio high school football.

The 1899 team earned the distinction of becoming the state's first widely acclaimed high school football champion. The 1900 squad followed with another outstanding season, finishing undefeated and making Oberlin the state’s first ever back-to-back State champion.

Together, these two teams helped establish Oberlin as one of Ohio's earliest football powers and blazed a trail for every team and individual that will be recognized by this new Hall of Fame.
