Yesterday in Orangeburg, SC, Kimberly Ratcliff and I had the pleasure of presenting at South Carolina State University for MEAT UP: A Grilling Experience, in partnership with SC State Public Service & Agriculture and Ratcliff Premium Meats. The campus was buzzing with excitement as students took on the grill, proudly honing their skills and sharing how eager they are to showcase them at home, one student even said, “now my dad may allow me on his grill.”

Working in pairs, the students not only learned about grilling but also strengthened their teamwork and communication skills, key skills for any future in agriculture. MEAT UP offered more than just a culinary lesson; it introduced concepts in sourcing, product quality, branding, and market strategy, connecting hands-on grilling with the fundamentals of agricultural entrepreneurship.

Special thanks to Dr.Louis Whitesides, Vice President and Executive Director of the SC State University 1890 Research & Extension Program, and the entire Extension team for their leadership and support in making this event possible. Their commitment to advancing public service, student development, and lifelong learning opportunities continues to transform the lives of South Carolinians.

It’s always a great day for when we can give back to our youth, who are the future of agriculture. Experiences like these inspire and empower the next generation, and we’re grateful to all our partners and participants for making it possible.

🥩 May is National Beef Month! 🥩

Did you know Texas leads the nation in cattle production, with over 12 million head of cattle grazing our pastures? That’s more cows than people in some Texas counties! In fact, there’s about 1 cow for every 2 Texans, now that’s a lot of beef!

Beef is a powerhouse protein, packed with essential nutrients that keep us strong and healthy. But none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our Texas ranchers. Thank you for your commitment to raising high-quality beef and keeping our tables full.

This month, take a moment to get to know your local beef producers and learn about the care and passion that goes into every steak, burger, and brisket. Support local, eat beef, and celebrate the people behind your plate!

🌍🌿 Happy Earth Day 🌿🌍

Today, we celebrate our beautiful planet and the sustainable practices that help preserve it for future generations. At Ratcliff CBO, we're committed to promoting sustainability in every aspect of our community, and that includes supporting our local beef producers.

🥩 Why Local Beef Matters:
- Sustainability: Local beef producers often use sustainable farming practices that reduce carbon footprints and preserve our natural resources.
- Community Support: Buying local strengthens our community, supports local economies, and fosters relationships between producers and consumers.
- Quality and Transparency: Get to know where your food comes from and enjoy high-quality beef with full transparency about its journey from farm to table.

This Earth Day, we encourage you to connect with your local beef producers. Learn about their sustainable practices and how they contribute to a healthier planet. By choosing local, you're not just enjoying delicious beef—you're making a positive impact on the environment.

Let's work together to create a more sustainable future, one bite at a time! 🌱🐄
