Pray with me as you start your week:
Heavenly Father,
It’s easy to read Your Word, agree with it, and then go right back to living the way we were before. But You’ve called us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only (James 1:22). So this week, help us put into practice what You’ve been teaching us.
Show us where there’s a gap between what we believe and how we’re living. If there’s something we need to change, help us change it. If there’s something we know we need to do, help us stop making excuses and obey.
You said that those who love You will keep Your commands (John 14:15). We know obedience won’t always be easy. There will be times when following You means saying no to what we want or doing something we’d rather avoid. In those moments, help us trust that Your way is better than ours (Proverbs 3:5–6).
Keep us from thinking that knowing more is the same thing as growing. Let Your Word change the way we live. Jesus said the person who hears His words and acts on them is like someone who builds on a solid foundation (Matthew 7:24–25). Help us build our lives on what You say.
As we go through this week, make us quick to obey. Help us trust You with the outcome and be faithful with what You’ve already shown us to do.
