Take a stand this National Day of Action against Coal and Gas! ✊

Batangas, one of the five provinces encompassing the VIP, is the epicenter of fossil gas expansion in the Philippines. It is host to 5 existing fossil gas plants, 10 proposed LNG and gas-fired power plants, and 2 new operating LNG import terminals, with 3 more in the pipeline.

Coal and gas projects threaten biodiversity hotspots like the VIP, putting fisherfolk and coastal communities at risk, driving biodiversity loss, and undermining our climate goals.

This October 2, stand in solidarity with the VIP and its communities and take part in the against coal and gas!

FACES in the Philippines! 🌊🐠🪸🪼🌴

Did you know? Batangas, Philippines is a hot spot for oil & gas development in the Philippines – and the Verde Island, local communities and marine ecosystem are currently under threat from fossil gas projects in the region!

This past January, FACES board and advisory board members traveled to the Philippines to meet with our partners advancing the Protect the Verde Island Passage campaign. We met with members of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice; the Center for Earth, Ecology, and Development; and community leaders from across the Philippines. We learned how much the livelihoods of local fisherfolk are threatened by gas development and expanding commercial fishing.
