Selfestem The New Face and Culture of STEM - Igniting pride, purpose & possibility among girls and women through STEM!

Nobody told Azaria that fashion could be code. She figured it out herself.

"There was so much creativity involved that I didn't know could be a part of STEM. That was the moment for me where I really got to collaborate with others, be creative, and learn things I never thought I was able to learn." Azaria, Innovator and Youth Facilitator

When we brought fashion design into the room alongside technology, something shifted. Azaria wasn't the only one who didn't know STEM could look like this.

At Self-eSTEM, our 2026 programming is built on one premise: Innovation doesn't have one look. Azaria is proof.

Her next chapter is coming. Follow .

The Work That Outlasts Us. 🕊️

"One of the things that we do here at Self-eSTEM is narrative change. Using your voice to counter the dominant narrative that girls don't belong in STEM fields. Sharing information and insights so that we can all accelerate and grow together." - Adamaka Ajaelo, Founder

💡Today we honor those who served by asking how we serve the future.

Leadership means using your platform to make the room bigger for the Innovators coming up behind you. When we share what we know, we build something that lasts.

Let's grow together.

The Moment She Saw Her Future. 🔭✨

"To only see faces that don't look like you in certain positions, it makes you think, okay, only people that look like this can do this certain thing." Selma, Alumna & Camp Facilitator 💡

If our students only see one type of person in a tech leadership role, they naturally assume they don't belong there. Selma’s journey from student to intern to Camp facilitator proves why representation matters. When they see a reflection of themselves in leadership, the "impossible" becomes attainable.

Don't miss a single breakthrough from our programming.

👉 Make sure you're following so you don't miss a single project launch, student spotlight, or live programming update!

Innovation doesn’t take a day off. ⚡️🌱

Highlights from our recent activation at ! We took our AI Literacy activation into one of the world’s leading tech hubs to prove that technical fluency is a 365-day-a-year mission.

From hands-on AI demos to deep-dive conversations with industry pros, this is what building a bridge between Silicon Valley and the next generation of talent looks like in action. 💻✨

We aren't just preparing students for the future; we’re working alongside industry leaders to ensure the entire tech landscape is powered by a full spectrum of talent.

LEADERSHIP ISN’T TAUGHT IN A TEXTBOOK. 📚

Most STEM programs focus on the "what." We focus on the "how." 💡

Our volunteer, Tyler, shares how the Self-eSTEM curriculum pushes students to master skills that traditional education often overlooks: delegation, teamwork, and leadership balance. We’re not just building apps; we’re building the leaders who will run the companies of tomorrow.

The future isn't waiting, and neither are they. 🤖

Our Innovators at Urban Promise Academy are already coding, building, and troubleshooting their way into the future of work. This is just the first half of Robotics Programming, and they are already moving.

From learning the fundamentals with Sara, Self-eSTEM alum, to assembling robots and testing sensors, every session is building more than skills. It's building confidence, curiosity, and a seat at the table.

We aren't just teaching coding. We are securing their place in the Future of Work.

They have the vision. They need the vantage point. 🔭

"That exposure of being able to see role models, even just a few hours, that connectivity is key."

At Self-eSTEM, we know our students have the drive to build the future. But having a mentor in the room makes that future feel real. Tina’s experience at camp shows that your presence as a volunteer acts as a blueprint for our students to build upon.

Be the proof. Be the vantage point. Be a volunteer in 2026.

Oakland, we have something incredible growing right in our backyard. 🌳💻

Last year, every single girl in our program, 100% of them, crossed the finish line and completed her technical STEM project. From building robots to solving real-world problems, these girls are proving that when our community shows up, they thrive.

We are officially recruiting volunteers for our 2026 STEM Exploration Camp at Oakland Tech (July 20-24), and we want YOU in the room.

You don’t need a tech degree to make a difference. We need parents to encourage, neighbors to cheer, and professionals to guide. It takes all of us to build this village.

Her breakthrough. Your legacy.

Let’s show our girls that their city stands behind them. Sign up to volunteer here: www.selfestem.org
