For decades, Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate has been committed to one mission: strengthening families, one father at a time.

From reentry and fatherhood support to healthy relationships, parenting, trauma healing, life skills, financial empowerment, and we continue to create pathways for men and fathers to grow, heal, reconnect, and thrive.

Our journey has evolved, but our purpose remains the same: restore families by strengthening men and fathers through education, empowerment, and support.

As America prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence in 2026, it is important to understand key parts of the nation’s history.

The United States declared independence in 1776. Slavery in what became the United States lasted approximately 246 years, from 1619 to 1865. Within the period of U.S. independence, slavery remained legal for 89 years.

Slavery was formally abolished in 1865 with the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

For many descendants of enslaved people, slavery resulted in the loss of ancestral language, culture, and historical connection, as well as generations of exclusion from equal rights and opportunity.

Understanding this history is part of understanding the broader story of the United States.
When people say they want to “make America great again,” it raises the question of what time period is being referred to, and who experienced that “greatness.”

This was the best Father's Day ever.
We often talk about how dads don't always get celebrated, but that definitely wasn't the case for me.

On Saturday, my wife treated me to an amazing day. She took me to Napa, blessed me with a massage, treated me to brunch, took me to Healdsburg for a movie, and we ended the day in Santa Rosa with a wonderful dinner.

This morning, my oldest daughter sent me a text wishing me a Happy Father's Day and telling me that she and my grandson love me. Then my two youngest children took me to church and out for breakfast.

I feel incredibly blessed, loved, and appreciated. Thank you to my amazing wife and children for making this Father's Day one I'll never forget.
