Higher temperatures & longer days have an unfortunate side effect: an increased likelihood of harmful algae blooms.

But you can help! If you see signs of a harmful bloom -- which in the Bay are typically dark red or coffee-colored -- please stay out of the water, note down the details, and reach out to our pollution hotline: https://baykeeper.org/report-pollution/

Good news! Richmond just voted to prevent carbon dioxide waste pipelines in the city, showing true leadership by getting ahead of this toxic and dangerous infrastructure 💪

Shout-out to our coalition partners, who we've been working with to stop carbon dumping schemes around the Bay: Food & Water Watch - California Biofuelwatch Center for Biological Diversity Climate Reality Sunflower Alliance Climate Equity Policy Center Elders Climate Action Oil and Gas Action Network PSR - SF Bay Physicians for Social Responsibility Interfaith Climate Action Communities For A Better Environment

The city wants the EPA and other land use agencies to reject a project that would move carbon dioxide from Chevron Richmond and other refineries to Solano County.

Shoutout to HandsOn Bay Area for helping us host such a beautiful, high-impact day!

Together, we:
🧪 Tested local water quality to learn about harmful algal blooms,
🗑️ Prevented over 40 pounds of trash from entering SF Bay,
🗣️ And advocated to stop the sand grab in the Bay.
