Our mission is cats. Together, we save the lives of at-risk cats, find them loving homes, and advocate for a future where every cat is valued. Cat Town made history by opening America’s first cat cafe in 2014, right here in Oakland. In doing so, we created a new platform to meet elderly, frightened, stressed, sick, and injured cats — a place where adopters could meet them at their best: stress-fre

e, healthy, and ready for love. About half of our cats reside at our Adoption Center until they get adopted. The rest of our cats live in foster homes around the East Bay or in our kitten adoption space at Pet Food Express in Rockridge. Our approach to cat rescue proves these overlooked cats are highly adoptable, and has been shared with other rescues across the country, helping transform what's possible for vulnerable cats. At 12 years old, Cece knows exactly what she wants: quality time with her favorite people, plenty of affection, and your undivided attention. This tortie lovebug will happily settle onto your chest, gaze directly into your eyes, and remind you with a little meow that your phone or laptop really can wait.

Cece is happiest wherever you are. She’ll greet you, follow you around the house, and lounge beside you — or preferably on your chest. Her foster describes her as “a lover through and through.”

As a senior, Cece has a couple of health needs to monitor. She has mild heart disease that currently requires no medication, diet changes, or exercise restrictions, but she’ll need annual check-ins with a veterinary cardiologist.

Cece’s wholehearted companionship makes it all too easy to understand that in her opinion, you’re the most important being in the world. She may prefer to be your one and only cat, and would love a calm, indoor-only home with someone ready to give as much affection as she does.

Could that be you? Let us know: https://bit.ly/cattownadoptioninquiry

THANK YOU for helping make our 2026 Yard Sale a success! Together, our generous community raised $34,634 to support our cats. Because of you, we can continue giving at-risk cats the care, comfort, and second chances they deserve.

Your support helps seniors like Bamboo, who is enjoying a calm foster home and medication that keeps him comfortable in his golden years.

It helps timid cats like Thomas, who gets antibiotics for his irritated eyes, and the space to feel better and gain the confidence to welcome pets and affection.

And, it helps cats facing medical emergencies like Cordelia, who got immediate ER care, testing, and treatment when she needed it most.

To everyone who placed a bid or made a donation: thank you! You showed up for cats like these, and made hundreds more outcomes like these possible. These cats’ lives will change for the better because of you.

Bamboo is a world-class cuddle bug, happily soaking up attention and settling in beside you for a cozy evening at home. “He wants nothing more than to curl up with you,” says his foster guardian. “He's a gentle giant.”

This mellow gentleman would do best in a calm home with someone willing to make a few thoughtful accommodations for his comfort, like low-entry litter boxes and easy-to-access resting spots. Like many seniors, Bamboo has arthritis and kidney disease, and takes daily medication mixed easily into his wet food.

Bamboo may be a lovebug, but he also enjoys playtime, such as “enthusiastically batting after wand toys from a comfortable position,” and vibing out to his catnip banana. In return for 5 minutes of toy time and extended cuddle sessions, he offers gratitude, gentleness, and yes, more cuddles. If he’s feeling overlooked, Bamboo isn’t shy about asking for attention — purring happily once he feels seen and reassured — and he may also enjoy the friendship of another calm cat companion.

If you’re ready for a deeply devoted feline friend, submit an adoption inquiry to meet Bamboo: bit.ly/cattownadoptioninquiry

Check out items without any bids, including these selections that our cats would take home if they had their way:

• Tyra’s pick: Regal and unapologetic about it, Tyra wouldn’t mind reminders of her exquisite beauty, like the expressive Wire Lady Dancer Sculpture (Item 7), which captures a dancer in motion.

• Buster’s picks: This happy and playful boy finds so much joy with entertainment and stimulation, like wall-to-wall freestyle bouncing at Sky Zone (Item 363) and meeting our oceanic neighbors at Seymour Marine Discovery Center (Item 406).

• Bamboo’s pick: In his golden years, Bamboo appreciates anything that adds to his peace and relaxation, like unlimited yoga passes from Hot Spot Yoga Oakland (Items 372 and 440).

• June’s pick: This beautiful old soul would of course appreciate the timeless beauty of vintage gifts, like this romantic, one-of-a-kind Handmade Parisian Cherub Necklace (Item 19).

• Marvin’s pick: Marvin believes his special diet food should be served on special handcrafted pieces, like these elegant Lace-Pattern Ceramic Dishes (Items 186 and 187).

Beautiful Misha is a former colony cat who arrived at the shelter sick, severely matted, and in need of a shave, but even while uncomfortable, her sweet nature shone through.

This gentle senior has mastered the balance between independence and affection. She can be cautious with new people and startle easily, but give her a little time to settle in and you’ll discover an affectionate companion who loves head scratches, cozy naps, and staying close to her favorite person.

Misha’s daily routine includes happily loafing nearby while you work, cuddling across your leg for pets, or curling up on her beloved heating pad. She loves mealtime and has an adorably opinionated side when her food isn’t served quickly enough. She’s also a big fan of being brushed, which helps her stay comfortable when limited mobility makes grooming herself more difficult.

Although she spends plenty of time snoozing, her rainbow wand toy can bring out a surprisingly playful side. Her arthritis may limit her mobility, but she’ll enthusiastically swat, scramble, and occasionally zoom around once she’s comfortable. Monthly arthritis injections and a few simple home accommodations help keep her feeling her best.

Like many older cats, Misha has some additional medical needs, including early-stage kidney disease, arthritis, and chronic constipation. She enjoys a kidney-friendly diet, takes daily supplements and medication mixed into her meals, and will need ongoing veterinary monitoring. She’s also likely deaf, so approaching her where she can see you helps prevent surprises.

Misha will thrive in a calm, indoor-only home with an adopter who appreciates the slower rhythms of life with a senior cat. Give this sweet girl a comfortable place to land, and she’ll return the favor with plenty of cuddles, companionship, and character.

Does Misha sound like your perfect companion? Submit an adoption inquiry today and give this special girl the loving home she deserves: https://bit.ly/cattownadoptioninquiry

Giovanni and Francesca are bonded 2-year-olds described as “funny, sweet, and cuddly.” This charming duo is a joy to have around!

Gio is a “gentle giant” who loves belly rubs and will purr in your lap so enthusiastically that he’s been known to roll right onto the floor! He has tiny vampire fangs, a raspy whisper-meow, and silently moves through the house until playtime, when he stalks wand toys. Although he's much bigger than his sister, he never bullies her for food, lets her take her turn in play, and even shares treats!

Franny is a playful little dynamo with an impressive vocabulary of squeaks, mews, and trills. She loves staying near people, whether she’s sitting on your desk while you work, snuggling against you on the couch, or asking to chase after her favorite feather wand. She’s even invented her own game of tossing a foam soccer ball down the stairs and chasing after it!

These two will need a little extra time to feel comfortable with new people, but once you’re in their circle, prepare for plenty of love!

Our Yard Sale auction is one of Cat Town’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and every bid does double duty: you can take home something special while helping vulnerable cats get the care they need.

This year, we’re aiming to raise $35,000 to support lifesaving programs like:

• Forgotten Kitten Program, which socializes kittens four months and older like Berryessa, Big Bear, Shasta, and Siskiyou, giving them all the time they need to help them develop trust at their own pace and get adopted.
• In It For Life, which covers the lifelong medical bills for hospice cats like Oscar, so that the cost of their medical care is never a barrier to adoption.
• Emergency Medical Fund, which provides a vital safety net for cats coming from local municipal shelters who need specialized or costly medical care to have a chance at adoption.

Every winning bid helps turn a great find into something even more meaningful — medical care, patience, and second chances for cats who need them most.

Help us reach $35,000. Find something you love and bid for the cats here: https://fundraiser.bid/yardsale

Wonder arrived at Oakland Animal Services with both eyes severely injured and underwent a double enucleation to relieve his pain. Then, this sweet, affectionate boy was brought to his own Cat Town studio for post-surgical recovery, where we monitored his tummy issues, helped him build a healthy appetite, and gave him exposure to guests who let him cuddle on their laps.

Wonder was soon adopted, but when the resident cat made it clear they weren’t a match, he returned to our Adoption Center for a fresh start. Knowing how much he loves energetic play, we placed him next door to five playful kittens in hopes that one might appreciate his rough-and-tumble style.

Wonder was immediately fascinated by Berryessa, Tahoe, Siskiyou, Shasta, and Big Bear. “Wonder is VERY curious about the kittens,” one team member noted. “Hopefully his future bestie is among them!” Soon, they were meowing back and forth through the studio barrier, with an eager Wonder even attempting a break-in to join the fun.

Once our cat care team saw that everyone was ready, they removed the barrier, let the group officially meet, and a fast friendship bloomed. Wonder finally has kitten buddies to wrestle and play with, while our team says he “has been a great influence for [the kittens] socially.”

Now Wonder is ready for another fresh start, this time alongside one of his new friends, like Tahoe or Big Bear. If you have room for an affectionate, playful boy and one of his best buddies, submit an adoption inquiry and come meet them: https://bit.ly/cattownadoptioninquiry
