We stand by our LGBTQ members. Much like our union work, the Oakland Pride march is about fighting for unity, dignity, and opportunity for all. And in 2026 it’s a shame that human rights are not guaranteed. We still have to defend marriage equality from a government that is openly hostile toward the q***r community.

We’re at Arroyo Viejo rec center in Oakland giving out backpacks so that every child can start their school year off right! We’ll be here until 2 today and out at DeFremery park on Saturday the 8th. If you or a child you know needs a backpack, come on out!

SEIU 1021 members: Did you know your union is partnering with the Education Fund to offer tuition assistance and continuing education reimbursement for RNs and aspiring RNs?

Eligible SEIU 1021 members who are registered nurses can receive up to $1,500 from the Education Fund and SEIU 1021 toward nursing-related educational expenses, including: Continuing Education (CEUs); License Renewal Fees (LVN, RN); Initial/New License Fee (LVN, RN); Professional Memberships; TEAS Prep; and NCLEX Test Prep and Exam Fees.

SEIU 1021 members working toward becoming registered nurses can receive up to $5,250 in reimbursement for tuition, mandatory student fees, and textbooks.

This week, SEIU 1021 members at Mendocino County picketed to stabilize staffing for the services the community relies on!

This week, SEIU 1021 members at Mendocino County confronted the Board of Supervisors over their failure to stabilize County services.

The Board of Supervisors has broken Mendocino County by failing to recruit and retain sufficient staff.

SEIU 1021 members are Mendocino’s public health nurses, social workers, employment and family assistance specialists, mental health clinicians, road crews, and more.

“Investing in county staff is investing in the community,” said SEIU 1021 Mendocino County Area Representative Jeff Weston, who works as an eligibility specialist supervisor for Mendocino County. “That’s roads, libraries, and support for Mendocino’s most at-risk kids. Mendocino County must be able to fill its vacant positions and recruit and retain the staff that serve the community.”

Mendocino residents deserve a county that works!

Under the direction of Mayor Lurie's budget initiative, San Francisco's Department of Public Health is undercutting a program that improves maternal and infant health outcomes for underprileged mothers, babies, and families. Public health nurses in the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program connect high-risk expectant mothers with prenatal and postpartum care, mental health and/or substance abuse treatment as needed, programs that help them get stable housing, job training or education, and other programs and services to help them get on their feet and provide stability for their new babies. The program is successful. Madison and her family are just one of countless success stories.

So why did SFDPH remove the heads of this very successful program who have kept its grant funding and provided ongoing training and support for its public health nurses? Mayor Lurie is talking a lot about maternal and child health outcomes, yet his administration is effectively undercutting an evidence-based program that has proven extremely successful.
