Oakland Leaf 🍃Our goal is simple: give our students and their parents the resources they need to become success leaders and community members🌳

Oakland Leaf seeks to give students a voice and an opportunity to express themselves creatively in engaging and structured programming that continues throughout the course of the school year, and into the summer. HISTORY:
Oakland Leaf was founded in 2001 by a collective of East Oakland educators who shared a commitment to cultivate community transformation through creative education for youth and

families. The founders of Oakland Leaf saw a need and an opportunity to provide programs that would equip our future leaders with conflict resolution skills as well as artistic and cultural exploration and expression abilities. OUR PROGRAMMING:
Oakland Leaf runs after-school programs at 6 low-income elementary schools in the East Bay, provides high school internships, and even has a 4-week summer camp for middle and high school students. All of our programs are fully subsidized for our participants


OUR PHILOSOPHY & METHOD:
Our long-term vision of social change is for East Oakland youth to be creative, thriving and contributing to their community. We will do this by supporting their growth in the following areas:

Physical Well-being – Youth engage in regular physical activities, practice healthy eating habits, and are environmental stewards

Social & Emotional Well-being – Youth demonstrate self-love, practice self-care, and engage in healthy dialogue with others

Academic Success – Youth are lifelong learners and critical thinkers

Leadership & Service – Youth are empowered to be agents of positive change in their communities

✨ What a summer! 💛
Oakland Peace Camp 2026: Loud in Culture, Strong in Heart was everything we hoped for and more. From creative arts, STEAM, sports, clubs, and unforgettable field trips to our camper-led Kindness Campaign, and Community Impact projects, this summer was filled with learning, laughter, leadership, and love.
Our campers celebrated their cultures, built lasting friendships, discovered their voices, and showed what it means to lead with kindness and courage. Thank you to our incredible staff, families, and community for making this camp such a joyful, successful experience.

OPC Summer Fun! ☀️

Our three Oakland Peace Camps have been soaking up the sun over the past three weeks, and this week was all about field trips! From swimming at Lake Del Valle and Cull Canyon to exploring right next to the Golden Gate at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, our students have been benefiting from hands-on learning, building lifelong friendships, and creating unforgettable summer memories.

We love seeing our young campers thrive, explore, and build community! 🌱
