Prism Foundation (formerly GAPA Foundation) is a grassroots philanthropic organization that provides funds and leverages resources to empower the Asian & Pacific Islander LGBTQ+ communities. Established in August 2010, GAPA Foundation was born from the API community with the vision of not just embracing diversity and promoting visibility, but also a deep desire to partner with and reinvest in our

community and people.

Based in the San Francisco bay area, GAPA Foundation is dedicated to exploring critical issues that affect the API LGBTQ community and supporting innovative programs and individuals seeking solutions to those issues. Currently we provide academic scholarships to non-traditional API LGBTQ students and core funding to under-resourced and/or underrepresented local community organizations and projects. In addition to the monetary support, GAPA Foundation also seeks to nurture and support these organizations for future growth and independence through infrastructural support such as mentorship and leadership development.

Marsha was the founder of Okaeri, a vital community created to support LGBTQ+ Nikkei (Japanese descendants) and their families, fostering acceptance, understanding, and a true sense of belonging. She was a tireless advocate for LGBTQ+ community and, more than that, she was a member of the Prism Foundation family.

We miss her deeply. Her leadership, her compassion, and her unwavering commitment to building inclusive spaces where LGBTQ+ families could feel seen and valued. Marsha’s legacy lives on through the communities she built, the lives she touched, and the love she shared so generously.

Forever grateful. Forever remembered. 💖
