Genesys Works Bay Area is proud to announce that Okta will be recognized as our 2026 Corporate Partner of the Year at this year’s Draft Day.

For years, Okta has gone above and beyond hosting interns by investing in the growth of our Young Professionals through mentorship, leadership development, and meaningful career experiences. Their commitment has helped students build the confidence and skills needed to thrive in the workplace.
For over a decade, Okta has hosted 69 interns and is welcoming 10 for the Class of 2027. As demand for digital and security skills continues to rise, Okta’s support directly strengthens the pipeline that connects motivated young people to meaningful careers. We are deeply grateful for Okta’s commitment to the future of the Bay Area workforce.

On Draft Day, students will take the stage to learn about which company has selected them for a year-long, paid internship – one of the most exciting milestones in the Genesys Works journey. Partners like Okta make these life-changing moments possible.

Genesys Works Bay Area was honored to welcome guest speaker Sruti Bharat to yesterday’s Summer Training session. The founder of Campground Systems, Sruti spoke to students about the fluidity of career paths and the importance of being in tune with yourself as you define your direction. “It’s not a career path,” she expressed, but a “jungle gym.”

We are constantly building skills that we can apply to our futures, and those may not be linear. By first defining our goals, we are able to guide ourselves towards developing the skills necessary to move forward.

“You can’t control the yes or no,” Sruti told the Class of 2027. “You can only control what you put in.” If you put it all out there, then you can respect yourself for trying, even when things don’t go as planned.

Thank you, Sruti, for sharing your wisdom with Cohort 14. We are grateful for your expertise, candid advice, and vulnerability as you shared your story.

As the Class of 2025 continues to wrap up their internships, GWBA Young Professionals have been recapping their experiences in Internship Reflection Meetings. In these meetings, interns present their highlights from the year, reflecting on their successes and the impact they’ve had on their teams.

At Databricks, Santos and Shania did an incredible job sharing what they’ve learned and accomplished over the past ten months. Santos, who has found community in the workplace through joining team pickup soccer games, reflected on his experience in the IT department, where he helped maintain accurate tracking, handled tickets and requests, and supported overall smooth operational delivery throughout his team.

Shania, who supports events and office organization, also contributes to her team’s overall efficiency. By sorting mail and ensuring it gets to the right people, she has alleviated much of the stress of her teammates by streamlining the process. Additionally, she assists with tickets and removes legwork from her fellow employees.

Congrats to Santos and Shania for their incredibly successful internship experiences. We are so proud of all the hard work you’ve put in this year. A special shoutout to supervisors Alex Pate and Christina Perez for their support!

Earlier this month, our very own GWBA alum and current Summer Training TA Sandra led an alumni panel with our most recent graduating class.

Current Cohort 14 students were able to hear from Cohort 13, the Class of 2025, on their experience as Young Professionals, gaining valuable insight and advice from those who have recently completed their internships and are now headed into their next chapters.

This moment was a wonderful example of the life cycle of Genesys Works participants: from incoming interns to recent alumni to those who have been out of the program for years but continue to give back, the Genesys Works community is strong.

Thanks to Santos, William, and Eva for showing up for the incoming cohort, and thanks to Sandra for continuing to provide excellent support for GWBA students.

Genesys Works Bay Area is pleased to welcome our new Director of Corporate Engagement, Cesar Agustin!

With nearly 30 years of experience in the technology industry, Cesar is passionate about building corporate partnerships that create meaningful career opportunities for the next generation of talent.

Before joining Genesys Works, he led partnership development at Northeastern University Silicon Valley and Year Up, working with companies including Netflix, Salesforce, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Robinhood.

A Bay Area native and San Jose State University computer engineering graduate, Cesar enjoys crossfit, collecting vinyl records, supporting his son’s college football games, and exploring new restaurants with his wife.

Last week, we were so honored to be featured on the beautiful Oracle Park jumbotron at the San Francisco Giants game! We were joined by students, alumni, Board members, and staff to celebrate the vision of Genesys Works.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our mission with thousands of local fans and celebrate the Young Professionals, corporate partners, volunteers, and supporters who continue to make our work possible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in the potential of Bay Area students, and thank you to the Giants for putting our message on the big screen! We appreciate you amplifying the mission of Genesys Works.

Welcome to Genesys Works Bay Area, Cohort 14!

Last week, the Class of 2027 came together for Team Up, kicking off Summer Training with energy, excitement, and the start of new connections. Students had the opportunity to meet their peers, build community, and begin forming the relationships that will support them throughout their Genesys Works journey.

We are so excited to see this group grow, develop new skills, and take these first steps toward their future careers. We can’t wait to watch all that these new Young Professionals will accomplish in the months ahead.
