Last week, we proudly welcomed the Class of 2027, Cohort 14, to Genesys Works Bay Area!

The evening was filled with excitement, anticipation, and new connections as students and their families gathered to learn more about the journey ahead. From meeting fellow cohort members to hearing about the opportunities and growth that await them, the event marked the beginning of an incredible new chapter. Students were even able to hear from a current Young Professional and partake in a fashion show that allowed them to take home professional attire for upcoming Summer Training.

At Genesys Works, we know that success is built through hard work but also through community. It was inspiring to see students already begin to build relationships with each other and staff, ask thoughtful questions, and embrace the possibilities in front of them!

To Cohort 14: thank you for showing up with such enthusiasm and curiosity. We are so excited to support you as you develop the skills, confidence, and experiences that will shape your future.

Welcome to the Genesys Works community, Class of 2027!

As Cohort 13 begins to wrap up their internships, we want to take a moment to recognize the supervisors who have stepped into mentorship roles this year.

We are incredibly grateful for the many supervisors completing their first year supporting our interns. From welcoming Young Professionals on day one to offering guidance, encouragement, and mentorship throughout the year, supervisors play an essential role in helping interns grow both personally and professionally.

Today, we’re spotlighting Brittany Taylor from /DCS! Thank you, Brittany, for your commitment to opening doors to opportunity and investing in the success of our Young Professionals. Your support makes a lasting impact.

This , we’re spotlighting a longtime Genesys Works champion, donor, mentor, and volunteer: Wayne Riley.

Wayne first connected with Genesys Works while leading IT teams at Kaiser Permanente, where he helped bring interns into corporate and field office teams. What started as a trial for him quickly became something much more after seeing firsthand the talent, preparation, and enthusiasm interns brought to the workplace.

A consistent and loyal supporter, Wayne continues to give back to the Genesys Works community. He believes deeply in our mission, and even in retirement, he continues to give back through mentorship, volunteerism, and financial contributions.

For Wayne, supporting young people – especially those from underserved communities – is more than giving back. It’s investing in future leaders. Helping others, in addition to “reaching one, teaching one”, as he puts it, creates meaningful impact for everyone involved.

Thank you, Wayne, for your unwavering commitment to opening doors to opportunity, uplifting students, and championing the mission of Genesys Works.

Last week, we were excited to continue our Leadership Development Project at Okta!

Okta interns Eva, Michael, and Shayma helped moderate a conversation with leaders across Okta teams about the power of networking and how to get started as an early career employee.

From AV operations to events coordination to vulnerability management, Joseph Cleaver, Kena Deal, and John Santos shared their professional journeys and what’s helped them open doors along the way. We even got a visit from the new VP of Global Impact, Shameek Bose, who stopped in to tell his story.

Networking opportunities come up in everyday life, not just in a structured environment. Each of our panelists emphasized the impact of building relationships, and how even a simple “hello” in the elevator can shape a career down the line.

From learning how to start these conversations (even as an introvert!) to using LinkedIn with intention, Okta panelists helped Young Professionals take their networking knowledge a few steps further.

A special shoutout to Eva, who, along with leading the discussion, reflected on her internship experience so far and how being open to networking from the beginning has made her feel more comfortable creating connections with people she doesn’t know.

Thanks to all our panelists who contributed such valuable knowledge!
