National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims - September 25, 2024, 6:00pm: The Khadafy Washington Foundation and the Family Support Advocates invite the community to participate in a moment of silence on the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims. Together we will remember those that have been lost due to homicide, reflect on how their absence has impacted our families and the community, recommit to supporting those who are still suffering from the loss and strive for peace.

This election is being called the most important one in our lifetimes. That’s why the National Pan-Hellenic Council is hosting the Vote Smart Summit on 9/21, 10:00am – 2:00pm at Oakland City Hall, 1 Frank Ogawa Plaza.
The purpose of the summit is to educate the public about the power, purpose and process of voting in Alameda, Contra Costa and SF Counties. The agenda will consist of a general session focusing on Ranked Choice Voting, Statewide Ballot Measures, The Power of the Vote panel discussion with community leaders like the Hon. Elihu Harris, Hon. Lynette McElhaney, Dr. Joseph Marshall, Hon. Wanda Williams and UC Berkeley Student Senator Owen Knapper. There will be three break-out sessions to discuss Alameda, San Francisco and Contra Costa County specific rules, measures and issues. Malia Cohen will speak as well!

Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will hold it's summer Mega Stand-in on the corner of 8th & Peralta in West Oakland on July 13th at 11am. We stand to remember the over 50 people who have lost their lives in Oakland in 2024 and to call for an end to the gun violence that is destroying families and our community. If you too believe that enough is enough, come join us and Say Something!
