💡We are excited to announce the release party for the “SKRAPS” book set & opening reception for the exhibition, “SKRAPS ——— finale”! by Yasushi Matsui Yasushi Matsui on Saturday October 24 at Neighbors Corner Neighbor's Corner in SF.

Celebrating 10 years and 30th book of SKRAPS, Yasushi has scanned every single page and self-published a limited edition 3-volume book set.

Mike Boo and W.A.L.A. will be providing the musical journey with DJ sets, followed by a special performance by saxophonist Marcus Stephens to bless the space. Yasushi has drawn each of them over the years, so you can even find them on a page inside the books.

Sample copies of the book set will be available, so please come by, flip through the pages, and immerse yourself in the journey. We got the b**r, w**e, and tea covered!

SKRAPS is a documentation project capturing Yasushi Matsui’s daily life and travels through ink and watercolor sketches. Created on scrap paper collected during his journeys, these pieces have been compiled into handmade sketchbooks since 2016. In keeping with DIY zine culture, the original drawings are scanned and printed using a home printer. These illustrated recollections are then placed within carefully selected salvaged frames, presenting an iconic zine format that transcends chronological time and cultural geography to offer a remarkable overview of experiences the artist deems noteworthy enough to document for posterity.

Two decades ago, Ricci Rucker created Fuga, an album built from forgotten jazz records and a fabricated story that convinced listeners they were hearing twenty live musicians. Fuga
would go on to become a seminal work in the emergence of Los Angeles’ beat scene, helping shape a movement that would transform electronic music.

Fuga
means escape What began as an attempt to escape the limits of sampling became a two-decade journey beyond genre—and ultimately beyond the systems that control how artists create, connect and survive. Now, inside Audium’s 176-speaker environment, Rucker pulls Fuga
apart with technology impossible when it was created, transforming the album into an immersive experience, revealing its true story, and completing the journey with the debut of new technology built to give artists greater creative and financial freedom.
