Around the world, governments are expanding surveillance, policing, detention, deportation, and border enforcement, using fear and criminalization to justify the growth of systems of caging and state violence.

In this clip from our recent webinar, One System, Many Cages, discuss how escalating immigration enforcement is part of a broader global trend and why an internationalist analysis is essential to abolitionist organizing.

Understanding these connections helps us see that immigrant detention is one of the many expressions of the prison industrial complex (PIC). Our movements are strongest when we recognize these systems as interconnected and organize across struggles, communities, and borders.

Please join CR Oakland in-person on Sunday, June 7th (location TBA) for a full-day of Critical Resistance’s core introductory workshops, including Intro to the Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) and Intro to Abolishing the PIC.

This workshop covers key concepts of the PIC and an overview of the CR model of organizing to abolish the PIC. This series is required to become a volunteer with CR’s Prisoner Correspondence programs.

Slots are limited, and registration is required. Accepting RSVPs through Thursday, June 4th. The location will be in Oakland.

VICTORY. 🙌🏽 Years of organizing by immigrant communities across New York State have delivered a historic win: an end to immigration detention contracts in New York. This belongs to every person who testified while living in fear, who organized from inside detention, who refused to let New York profit from their incarceration.

This is what years of organizing looks like and the work is not done. Informal collusion between local law enforcement and ICE remains. New York for All must follow.

We celebrate today. Tomorrow, we keep fighting, until every pathway to deportation is closed, and every person is free.

📝 It’s that time of year again! Critical Resistance’s annual prisoner solidarity postcard writing parties are right around the corner.

Every year, Critical Resistance sends a note of solidarity, hope, and encouragement to all of the 6,500+ subscribers of The Abolitionist newspaper who are currently locked up in jails, detention centers, and prisons.

Since this time of year can be challenging for our loved ones, especially for folks locked up, CR sends messages of love and solidarity to all of our imprisoned comrades each December.
