Louisiana v. Callais is a direct attack on Latine political power.

At Hispanics in Philanthropy, we refuse to accept this. Democracy doesn’t defend itself — it takes bold, sustained investment in the civic infrastructure our communities need right now.

Funders: this is THE MOMENT to act. Grassroots movements and civic engagement organizations need your investment. Now

Trans communities across the US and Latin America have been building for decades. They’re organizing, litigating, documenting, and holding each other up.

This Transgender Day of Visibility, we’re honoring that leadership.

We call on philanthropy to move with urgency to:

✅Support trans-led organizations directly
✅Fund infrastructure, not just programs
✅Remove barriers for small, community-based groups
✅Follow the lead of those closest to the work

Not sure where to start?

Behind every mission-driven organization are real people — many of us Latine kids who grew up believing our communities deserved more. We still do.

Swipe to meet the kids behind the mission. 🫶🏾

Misinformation shapes policy, erases trust, and reduces Mexico to a single story. Our communities deserve accuracy, dignity, and truth.

After nearly nine years of transformative leadership, is stepping down as President & CEO of Hispanics in Philanthropy.

Her leadership strengthened HIP in durable and consequential ways—grounding the organization in trust, partnership, and transnational collaboration. As we move through this transition, at HIP we remain committed to our work. We extend our deep gratitude to Ana Marie for her leadership and service, and to all who continue to place their trust in our work.

Together, we hope to continue advancing a more just and equitable future across the hemisphere.

Human rights are universal — and their protection must be universal too.

When we underfund equity, we undermine justice.

This Human Rights Day, let’s remember that philanthropy has a responsibility to invest in our communities, resource our movements, and safeguard every human life.

On this we ground ourselves in the truth that trans lives hold immeasurable worth, trans leadership continues to shape the world we’re building, and our responsibility is to show up with real support and action.

Today we honor three trailblazers who carved pathways where none existed:

🩵Miss Major — a lifelong architect of safety, care, and liberation for trans communities.

🩷Marsha P. Johnson — whose courage ignited a movement and whose generosity uplifted those pushed to the margins.

🤍Sylvia Rivera — who demanded that our fight for justice include everyone, especially those most overlooked.

Their vision lives in the futures trans communities are creating every day — and it’s on all of us to help resource that future..
