Join Nina Gold (GRIP Facilitator), Tommy Shakur Ross (GRIP Facilitator & Alumni), Robin Guillen (GRIP Alumni & Facilitator), and Marylyn Tesconi (survivor of violence and member of GRIP’s survivor network) for an authentic conversation on what it means — and what it takes — to make peace in a hurting world 💛

Through personal stories and shared reflection, they will explore healing, accountability, and transformation, and the ways their journeys are deeply interconnected. 🌱✨

This intimate gathering offers a meaningful opportunity to experience the heart of GRIP’s transformative work. 🤝

A powerful day of advocacy at the Capitol. 🙌

We’re grateful to stand with organizations across the state fighting to continue to push for investment in healing, rehabilitation, and trauma-informed programs that create safer communities and support transformation. ✨

A beautiful evening filled with connection, intention, and community 💌✨

So grateful for everyone who joined our card writing party and helped spread a little extra love and encouragement. Every handwritten note matters.💛

On April 20th, GRIP participated in a Lobby Day at the Capitol alongside and a powerful coalition of community partners to advocate for the RIGHT Grant funding, that sustains restorative justice and healing-centered programs across California.

We’re proud to uplift GRIP’s Capitol Advocates—a dedicated group of survivors, alumni, and staff leading this work and showing what it means to advocate from a place of lived experience, accountability, and transformation.

The RIGHT Grant (Rehabilitative Investment Grant for Healing and Trauma) supports community-based organizations delivering trauma-informed programming inside CDCR institutions. Since 2022, it has funded nearly 100 organizations across the state. This year, we are advocating for $25 million to continue and expand this critical work.

We’re just getting started.

📍 Join us on May 20 as we return to the Capitol for another Lobby Day.

In honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, we’re sharing a powerful poem by Marylyn, a member of our Mountain Road survivor support network.

Written on Valentine’s Day after spending time with GRIP students, her words reflect connection, healing, and the possibility of transformation.

✨ Read, reflect, and honor the power of healing.❤️‍🩹

Our Executive Director, Kim Moore, was honored to be invited to a small convening in Sacramento to confront the crisis facing boys and men. and brought together state agency leaders, educational leaders, philanthropies, and community organizations to explore how to tackle rising loneliness, disconnection, lack of opportunity, and violence experienced by our boys and young men.

You can read more about the convening and California’s progress on these issues: https://lnkd.in/gyhTjGic

This topic is near and dear to our work. As an organization working with men incarcerated for having committed serious, violent crimes, we see the impacts of this crisis every day. We also know that there are solutions: it is possible to support the development of a strong and healthy masculine identity that is not rooted in violence and domination, and that leads to strong families and communities.

GRIP Training Institute is one of those solutions, and we are grateful to have contributed to this important conversation.

There are moments when something simple can carry so much meaning 💌

On May 7 | 6–8 PM, we’ll gather at Restore Oakland to write cards for our inside community—sharing love, encouragement, and connection during a time of year that can feel especially heavy.

✨This is how we show up for one another.
✨This is how we remind people they are not alone.

We’ll have music, light bites, and everything you need—just bring yourself, and if you’d like, someone you love 💛

We would be grateful to be in community with you.

In a world that often leans toward retribution, choosing empathy is a radical act. 💜

At GRIP, we see every day that real public safety begins with accountability, healing, and transformation—when people face their past and turn their rage into power.

We’re proud to share our 2025 Annual Report—a reflection of what’s possible when people are given the space to grow and become peacemakers.

Since 2012, nearly 2,000 people have entered a GRIP classroom.
948 graduates have returned home—not just released, but actively healing their families and communities.

This report holds the data—but more importantly, it tells a story of transformation, responsibility, and hope. 🕊️
