Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area

10/10/2026

Full circle moments like this are what it’s all about. ❤️❤️💛

We’re so grateful to the San Francisco 49ers for inviting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area to be part of this special event. Even more meaningful? One of the players who participated was once a Little in our program.

It’s a powerful reminder that the relationships and support young people receive today can be part of their story for years to come.

Thank you, San Francisco 49ers for your partnership and for helping celebrate the power of mentorship!

Several San Francisco 49ers players spent time in the kitchen this week, participating in a bake-off with mentor-mentee pairs from Big Brothers Big Sisters.

🌟 We’re thrilled to welcome three incredible new board members to the BBBS Bay Area family! 🎉 Meet Cassandra Lopez, a passionate advocate for educational equity and an active volunteer. Cassandra serves on the boards of several organizations dedicated to expanding opportunities for under-resourced communities, and lives on the Peninsula with her husband and three children. Her commitment to mentoring aligns perfectly with our mission!

Introducing Chris Wenner, managing director at Carrick Capital Partners. In his spare time, Chris enjoys sailing, hunting, and raising his three young children and wife in the East Bay. With extensive experience investing and working closely with CEOs across sectors, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge to our board. His dedication to youth empowerment will be invaluable!

And to cap off this exciting group, Allan Whitescarver, a Marin County native and retired crisis mitigation advisor. Allan has four children and enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, and giving back to the community. We’re excited to have his insights and experience!

We’re so excited for what’s to come and can’t wait to see the positive impact our new members will make. 💚 Give a BIG welcome to Allan, Cassandra, and Chris!

🌟 As the new school year approaches, it’s normal for our Littles to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. This is where our Bigs can make all the difference! Here are a few simple ways to support our Littles:

1️⃣ Check in on how they’re feeling about school and what they're looking forward to.
2️⃣ Create a safe space for them to discuss their challenges.
3️⃣ Celebrate every win, big or small!
4️⃣ Spend time together after school to give them something to look forward to.

Let’s show our Littles that we’re in their corner! Be a Big who believes in, encourages, and supports. 💚
