The Equal Opportunity Employment Commission protects workers from discrimination.

By building solidarity with your coworkers, we can support and protect each other and fight back against discrimination in the restaurant industry.

If you've been discriminated against at your restaurant job, you may be able to file an inquiry with the EEOC.

Questions? DM to talk to an organizer.

Available to all workers, in any language, regardless of status.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) creates and enacts safety standards to protect workers from jobsite hazards.

If something's not safe at work, call 1-800-321-6742. You can also file via email, fax or go in-person to your local OSHA office. You can do this anonymously if you want.

If you file a report with OSHA, you are protected from retaliation. Be sure to document as much as possible, and file a whistleblower complaint if needed.

All workers deserve safety and dignity. If the workplace if unsafe, workers can make it safer by getting together, talking about the issues and deciding to take collective action to address it.

How can we combat sexual harassment in the restaurant industry?

*Spoiler alert* by organizing!

And by equipping managers with the tools to advocate for workers; including by having them create, implement, and follow a zero-tolerance policy towards customers who harass their staff; working towards phasing out the sub-minimum wage; and in general by being the change you want to see in the industry.

Ready to change the restaurant industry? DM to get involved!

What do you DO when you're being harassed at work and there's no HR? Or when the person harassing you is in management? Or when it just doesn't feel safe to report the harasser to management?

It's a tough spot to be in, and this advice does not apply to every situation, but in general...

1. DOCUMENT everything, or as much as possible. Who, what, where and when; write down all the pertinent details and keep reliable, organized notes. A journal is a great place to keep all this information. Also, screenshot any DMs or messages the harasser is sending you.
2. Talk about it! It's hard, it might feel embarrassing, but speaking truth to power can be empowering in and of itself. Talk to management (if possible), confide in trusted coworkers, lean on your support system, learn about workplace organizing and know you can do hard things. Plus, our DMs are always open
