✅Ayer concluimos la 20ª jornada de cirugía de labio leporino y paladar hendido "Faces of Hope" (Rostros de Esperanza).
😍Ha sido un honor participar como voluntario en esta iniciativa a través de mi club rotario durante 20 años consecutivos. En este tiempo, hemos logrado realizar con éxito más de 1,500 cirugías, transformando vidas y ofreciendo nuevas sonrisas.
🤩 ¡Mi más profundo agradecimiento a todo el equipo médico, al personal de apoyo, al equipo coordinador, a los clubes rotarios y a los voluntarios, cuya dedicación y esfuerzo hacen posible este proyecto!

Thank you to Federico and Carmenly Kong for hosting us last Friday. We appreciate your hospitality!

Thanks also to the non-profit Funsek - Nutrición Infantil para Cirugía - Infant Nutrition for Surgery.

Funsek provides nutritional support to babies with cleft lip & palate. This is important because babies need to meet certain physical conditions to receive surgery from a medical mission team, like Faces of Hope, in Guatemala.

Other members of the team, whom I haven’t mentioned yet are Molly (Los Gatos Morning Rotary) and Linda M. (San Leandro Inner Wheel). They took turns helping out in pre-op and post-op, as well as at opening & closing clinic. Otto, the Guatemalan nurse in pre-op, Lesbia, the Guatemalan nurse in post-op, and myself, Sabrina (Cupertino Rotary), the photographer & social media person for the trip. This week wouldn’t have been possible without our partnership with ACPC (Asociacion Companero Para Cirugia / Partners for Surgery). They find the children who need surgery and ensure the families get to the hospital during the week. They also provide translation services for those families who don’t speak Spanish. A big Thank You to the ACPC team!
