We definitely can't cover all of the ways our needs and struggles overlap in this one diagram. And besides that, there's only 4 circles here, and we know that Reproductive Justice means so much more than just what's listed here. Still, hopefully this is start. What did we miss?

Let’s talk about some terrible, but WAY too common takes around abortion.

NOPE:
Coat hangers. Implying that self-managed abortion is inherently unsafe is incorrect & it demeans the world-wide movement that is out-of-clinic abortion care.
YUP:
Spread information about SMA from folks like , , , holistic.abortions, etc.

NOPE:
Underground Railroad. (1) If you're not Black, don't compare yourself to Harriet Tubman (2) We already have networks of care!
YUP:
Support orgs that provide financial and practical support like & others across the country that work together and with

NOPE:
Handmaid's Tale. If it's only nightmarish for you when it happens to people like you, then you have a lot of personal work to do.
YUP:
Boost the work of orgs like , , , , , , , ....

NOPE:
Green bandanas used by white-led US orgs.
YUP:
Lift up the work of people in Latin America including and Socorristas en Red.

NOPE:
Abortion is a women's issue
YUP:
All of us deserve bodily autonomy and quality health care and that includes trans women, trans men, non-binary people, intersex people, infertile people, people who have had hysterectomies, etc

Hi BADP crew,

We are excited to announce our second Abortion Support Training for 2021, which will run from late November to early December and will be hosted on Zoom. We hope you will join us!

Training goals and timeline:

This open-call training series will focus on tools and skills to aid in offering abortion support within your community. The training will be held from 11 AM-2 PM PST on Saturdays of November 27th, December 4th, and December 11th. The trainings will be conducted via Zoom.

Our intended curriculum is as follows:

Part 1 (November 27th): What is an abortion? // Intros to medication abortion and in-clinic abortion // What does an abortion look like during COVID?

Part 2 (December 4th): What does it mean to be an abortion doula? // Providing emotional, spiritual, and physical support for abortion // Creating your abortion support bag // Self-care and preventing burnout

Part 3 (December 11th): Exploring resources in and for the community (government benefits, mutual aid) // Providing care to LGBTQIA community members // Abortion doula panel

Cost of Training:

We are suggesting a sliding scale of $99-150 for the full training series (3 sessions). This breaks down to around $33-50 per session.
However, we trust that you know your finances better than anyone.

Please pay what works for you. No one will be turned away for a lack of funds. If you are facing economic hardship and need to pay less or nothing at all, we can accommodate your needs.

With that in mind, we greatly appreciate you considering contributing financially in whatever way you can; your contribution covers the basic costs of the training, without which it could not happen, and thereby makes these trainings more sustainable and accessible to others.

The application period will close at midnight (PST) on Friday, November 5th. [Please note that while we will aim to invite as many people as possible to participate in the training, due to the limitations of hosting trainings on Zoom, we may choose to cap the number of participants to better encourage a thoughtful and interactive space for all attendees.]

We will begin reviewing applications as they come in and will contact selected attendees by Saturday, November 13th in order to allow at least two full weeks before the training begins.
