Our November Grand Lake Neighbors meeting is November 20, 2024, 7:00 - 8:30PM
Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church, 3534 Lakeshore Ave
In Barnett Hall, up the driveway to the left of the sanctuary

AGENDA:
1. Crime and safety reports from OPD
2. Reopening Oakland Fire Station #10
The fire station closest to us, fire station #10 at 172 Santa Clara Ave., has been closed since 2022. It was originally closed for maintenance and improvements to the firehouse. Oakland’s budget woes may keep it closed for an extended period. What can we do to get this fire station open again?
3. Council District 1 updates
4. Council District 2 updates
5. The Future of Grand Lake Neighbors
Grand Lake Neighbors has been involved in neighborhood activism since the 90s. We’ve worked on public safety issues, hosted candidate debates, helped close down problem bars, attracted new businesses to the commercial districts, and much more. It’s time to bring new energy to the group, establish a new list of priorities, and develop an action plan for the next year or two. Plus, David and Eric, GLN’s long time co-chairs, committed to run the group through 2020, but the pandemic caused us to extend that commitment. Now it’s time to develop a succession plan.

· What issues do you think are most important in the Grand Lake area?
· What do you think needs to be done to address those issues?
· How are you willing to participate to achieve change?

Please join us at the November meeting to begin discussing the future of Grand Lake Neighbors. Working together we can make manifest improvements here in the Grand Lake area.
