Ja’Derrius Minnieweather disappeared during the early morning hours of June 5, 2026, after leaving a residence on Bradley Street in a part of North Baton Rouge commonly known by locals as “Ghost Town.”
For those unfamiliar with the area, “Ghost Town” is a nickname for a neighborhood that has long struggled with crime, violence, abandoned properties, and heavy police activity.
The area has gained a reputation over the years as one of the more dangerous sections of North Baton Rouge, making Ja’Derrius’s disappearance even more alarming to his family and community.
According to investigators, Ja’Derrius was last seen around 2:00 a.m. riding away from a friend’s house on a red and black bicycle. He never made it home.
His family says that makes absolutely no sense. Ja’Derrius always stayed in contact. If his phone battery died, he would borrow someone else’s phone to call home. Yet since that night, his phone has remained completely inactive.
Adding to the concern, Ja’Derrius had just begun working in a city summer employment program at Istrouma High School. He was reportedly excited about earning money and looking forward to receiving his second paycheck. Family members say he had plans for the future and no reason to simply disappear.
Search crews have spent days combing through wooded areas, highways, bridges, levees, and properties near Scenic Highway. Multiple search zones have already been cleared, yet there is still no sign of Ja’Derrius.
The biggest question remains: What happened after he left that house in “Ghost Town” at 2:00 in the morning?
Someone knows something, his family is still waiting for answers.
