This October, with purpose!

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated encourages you to make breast health a priority.

Know your family history and share it with your healthcare provider. Stay current on routine screenings, including mammograms, based on your age and individual risk. Pay attention to changes in your breasts and speak with your provider about any concerns. These conversations and screenings can help detect breast cancer earlier, when it is easier to treat.

We stand with our sisters and all those navigating a diagnosis, celebrate our survivors, and honor the lives and memories of those who have transitioned. Their experiences remind us why education, advocacy, and access to quality care remain essential to our work, especially in addressing the health disparities affecting Black women.

Be sure to schedule your screening if you’re due, encourage someone you love to do the same, and support efforts that bring care within reach.

As one sisterhood, we come together to raise awareness, encourage action, and surround those affected by breast cancer with care and support. This October and beyond, let’s continue showing up for ourselves and one another.

Delta Sigma Theta - Official In less than one week, two federal courts have acted to keep critical protections for mail voters in place through the November 3 election in League of Women Voters of Massachusetts et al. v. Trump et al., a consequential voting rights case in which Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a Plaintiff.

On September 4, the U.S. District Court in Boston issued a preliminary injunction blocking the U.S. Postal Service from enforcing key provisions of its new mail ballot rule through the November election. Days later, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit rejected efforts to suspend that injunction - allowing those protections to remain in place.

While the legal fight continues, these back-to-back victories reflect months of sustained legal advocacy, member engagement and strategic communications.

We extend special appreciation to our sorors from the Boston Alumnae Chapter and across the Tri-State cluster of the Eastern Region who showed up in court throughout this litigation!

That presence is more than symbolic. Being on the front lines is in our DNA. For generations, Delta Sigma Theta has understood that protecting voting rights requires us to show up, bring our collective voice and expertise to bear, and remain present wherever consequential decisions about our democracy are being made.

Protecting access to the ballot remains part of Delta’s legacy of social action. Anchored in that legacy, we will continue to evolve our strategy with intention whenever this fundamental right is threatened.
