This is from the new Instagram account and it is allowing, even ourselves, to learn about the history the A’s and Boosters alike.

We are digging through an entire treasure trove of history. One reoccurring theme I am seeing from the 1970s is the influence of the artwork of Lee Susman.

Unfortunately for us, Lee passed away after an amazingly long life in 2012 at the age of 94. Lee worked more than 36 years (1946 through 1983) drawing for the Oakland Tribune sports pages.

These little cartoons are total nostalgia and Lee even created the Oakland Oaks logo which was also transformed into a mascot as well as the Sacramento Solons. Which is part of the reason he was indicated into the PCL hall of fame.

This piece is from the day after the 1974 World Series win by the A’s

We will be sharing the collection we have over time. Pretty cool thing. Also, check out our logo, a little Susman influence there I think 😉
